Theatresports

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone would be keen to meet up at some stage and do some theatresports games together.
Theatresports was made famous by Whose LIne Is It Anyway? It’s all about improv, telling a story and accepting offers, just like LARPing. It’s a great way to learn to think on your feet and it’s great fun.

Thought I’d scope out some interest here. Please let me know if you’re interested.

Ooh ooh I’m keen! I haven’t done theatre sports since high school. Loved every minute of it.

Yes this.

What is/are Theatresports?

Chances are I’ll be keen!

Chances are you’ve seen the show Whose Line is it Anyway. This includes a lot of different games which fit nicely into the category of theatresports. There are a lot more than just those you’ve seen in WLitA, however, which don’t lend themselves to the TV stage as well, but are still a great deal of fun.

They also tend to have a specifically theatrical dimension - the equivalent of combat practice being fun, but also improving your abilities at hitting things with swords. Theatresports often revolves around theatrical premises such as boosting energy, crafting stories, and ‘saying yes’.

Sounds fun, thanks guys

I’m hoping to hold one of these prior to a swordfighting session in the new year. It could start at ten and we can do a few games and then switch to swords after bout 45 mins?

Those people who have played Russ’s shakespeare larps will have an idea of some warm up games that will be played, and I’ll revise some games for us to play. Maybe Sunday 5 Jan. I’ll make an FB event for Kelburn swordfighters too.
