And well done to everybody, awesome roleplaying all weekend.

Yes well deserved Kara. The tree legs you made were exceptional! The little touches (like the fake cigarette) were just too cool!

Still not sure how that happened, but wow - thanks

:open_mouth:

Umm… Thank you, though it really wasn’t that much of a costume as lack of costume…

I’d love to hear some more about the Requiem game that won best game.

Requiem was fantastic, i thik the main reason i got such a good impression of it was the pre-generated characters and socaliy driven goals, it was easy for a n00b like me to get into the game that way. i did vote 10/10 for hindenburg too though.

Thanks very much to everyone who played and voted for Requiem, after telling Joel the only word he could say was:
“Supercool” 8)

Also congratulations to our lucky spot prize winners:

The four one-year long memberships to nzLARPS, donated by nzLARPS, went to: Georgia Guy-Williams, Sarah Lauder, Hamish Meads and Mila Kristk

The three Amazon.com vouchers, donated by nzLARPS, went to Alexcia Voudouris, Craig Neilson and Michael Miller.

The two fleecy blankets, for keeping snug and warm at weekend games, went to: Malu Fink and Adam Parsons.

Requiem was a great game mainly for the in depth goals most characters had. I think a fair deal of success also came from the established world the game was set in.

I enjoyed the characters and the tension between folks that was built into the game, damn you Samuel Harker (played by A.J?) you slimy bastard.

I gave my top marks of the day to Hindenburg but Reqiuem was great as well.

Rowena and I tied eh? There is only one way to sort this out. Does anyone have a chalice?

Oh Hamish, do we have to solve every problem by sharing blood in a chalice?

…What am I saying, of course we do.

Seriously I enjoyed the Requiem game alot. My character had no knowledge of Supernaturals at all, but I was so busy trying to sell my scientific breakthroughs that I was constantly kept busy. I was pretty much oblivious to all the dodgy characters I was surrounded by. Up until the finale that is - I survived by hiding under a table a complete wreck thanks to the lunacy.

The goals were well done. Simple but effective. The Primary/Secondary/Bonus goal idea worked really well I thought. I think I had 7 goals so I didn’t run out of things to work on. The goal I thought would be hardest - to test out my ‘Relaxant’ sensory deprivation pills, turned out to be much easier than I thought.

I had been told that I was playing a saleswoman, so I wore plain black pants and jacket and white shirt. Then I got my character and saw that I had the seduction skill, so I undid a couple more buttons and spent the game leaning across the table.
One of my favourite moments was angrily asking my techie and security if I’d lost it because everyone was spending more time talking to my eyes than my cleavage. They obligingly spent the rest of the conversation talking to my breasts which molified me somewhat. Do these New Zealand men have no manners at all?

I really liked that my all my knowledge of the regular game wasn’t relevant at all, so I didn’t need to worry about and OOC/IC issues. I also think the simplified system worked really well and combat was pretty smooth - as anyone that plays the regular game knows that combat scenes can be difficult.

So big thanks to the ST’s for writing and running a cool game, to Gene for being able to make up scientific sounding stuff when I couldn’t, to Gene and Vanya for being awesome allies prepared to look at my boobs when I asked them too, and to everyone that voted for me. And those that voted for Hamish - what were you thinking???

Looking Dave right in the eye and saying, “I’m sure shes not, and if she is, shes just itching a scratch, and will come back to you.” And mentally adding ‘when I’m finished with her.’

How were the “best roleplaying across Chimera” figured? Total votes? Or number of games in which they won “best roleplaying”?

Next time, Gadget!

Total votes across the con

Aha, so it pays to play well in the games with lots of people. Gotcha. Was that the same for the “best game” category? Because that also seems skewed toward the games with big numbers. Poor Nightmare Circle never stood a chance…

For “Best Game”, it was the average score from all the people who voted. Requiem only had 18 or so people play.

Woo Requiem sounds awesome, then. Will have to speak to Alan’s family about timing their birthday celebrations…

This is true. Perhaps the individual player roleplaying score from each game should be given as a percentage of the total roleplaying points awarded to all players in that game. Then those could be added together, so size of game wouldn’t matter. Not this time though.

I think just summing the votes works better.

A person in a game with 5 players will on average get 20% of the vote.
A person in a game with 20 players will on average get 5% of the vote.

So while the best strategy is of course to be the best player in the biggest game, I think it would be too easy to stand out in a small game compare to a large one if we were to use percentages.

Probably the most statistically valid way to judge it is by seeing how many std deviations from average the vote puts people …

Or we could just do what we already did.
