The Rocky Horror Picture Show

I got no time to put together a costume either. (Though we could dress medieval/fantasy and thoroughly confuse everyone else at the screening!)

Anyhoo, do the seven of us want to get together somewhere to hang out/have dinner before hand? Should I stop trying to organise this via Diatribe? There’s a Denny’s near to the cinema, and also a Love-a-Duck (Chinese restaurant)…? Should we all meet somewhere?

The thread is here so might as well use it

I’m keen, obviously. I’ll be heading down from Whangatastic about 4:30, should be in Auckland (and at David’s) between 6:30-7:00. Give me a couple of hours on that to get Diego settled in and should be all good, but I’ll need directions to wherever from Mt Wellington

Oh good, I won’t be the only one not dressing up…

I’m good for whatever. There isn’t a Denny’s in Takapuna, but there is a Ghengis Khan, all you cans eat for cheaps.

Denny’s is only near to the cinema if you have car… It’s in Wairau Park (near the Hoyts cinema) and the Berkeley Cinema is in Takapuna. There’s loads of eateries in Takapuna tho. Everything from Daikoku Teppanyaki to Wendy’s.

The wendy’s closed down :frowning: But yes, there is plenty of other choice, if not fast food.

Oh really? Wow, I need to get to Takapuna a bit more often, but the kids like the playground at Glenfield Mall, so we always end up there. :stuck_out_tongue:

We wont be coming this time, we can’t seem to wrangle a baby sitter who is willing to hang around until 3am + on a Friday night :frowning: It’s a pity really but that’s what happens when you have a motely crew

Getting dinner beforehand sounds great. I’m happy to eat most things but Love-a-Duck or Ghengis Khan are especially appealing.

Why don’t we go with this: We’ll meet at the Berkeley Cinema at 7:30pm to pick up tickets and we’ll figure out where from there.

Dave, since you’ll be busy settling Diego in, we’ll txt you with where we are and you can come meet us.

sounds like a plan
The wendy’s closed down :frowning: But yes, there is plenty of other choice, if not fast food.
Yeah, the Wendy’s did close down :frowning: And the Love-A-Duck is in Northcote. But there is a heck of a lot of restaurants in Takapuna, and plenty of fast food places too. As long as you get there reasonably early (most restaurants would probably not want to take people past about 9:30 or so, though some would I should think), you shouldn’t have any problems.

The other thing I wanted to say is, for those who don’t know, the cinema adjoins a reasonably large parking lot that I think is free in the later part of the night. Although I don’t guarantee the free part… Nor do I guarantee that your car would be unmolested. I’ve never known of any problems myself, but the spot is a popular hangout for drunken idiots.

Squeeeee! That was so much fun!

Thanks for the last minute ticket Anna. I’m so glad I’m not a theatre cleaner! We’ll have to email bomb them and get them to organise another one.

Who’s dressing up next time? waves hand madly in the air

oh oh oh me toooo! waves hand in air I think there were was talk of all of us (inc. the boys) going as a large troupe of Magentas

That was mad fun! Between the commentator behind us and that guy who got up in a Frank N Furter get up and dance to Sweet Transvestite, I reckon we got the best cinema.

Oh cool, that’s a great idea!

I second this.
Ah, the movie really wouldn’t be that much fun without those comments!

Alas, I don’t have the legs for dressing up for Rocky Horror.

Weren’t you the one that suggested a Rocky Horror larp way back when?

I still think we should do that sometime. Maybe next Halloween?
