The Great Exhibition

Could I please get a little more information about my character? I don’t need the full sheet, but a bit more context would help me work out the costuming.

(Tried sending an email to the Gmail address but haven’t got a reply, am not sure if it got through OK.)

oh Steph! i know im dying to know too! but im sure it will all fall into place. i don’t care if my character description doesn’t exactly match my costume, my mind has been let wild now and their no taming it. please, someone take the sequins off me before i explode!

maybe someone, maybe me, should write up a list of=

‘clothing to bring to a chimera, even if your costume doesn’t call for it’.

a scarf (bandage, pirate, girly necktie, belt),

a plain black dress,

some fancy looking necklace with a big stone in it (if its doesn’t come in handy, at least it will make character suspect you of being the one wielding the evil powers).

extra makeup (never ever think along the lines of ‘im not going to need green eyeshadow, this is Victorian themed’ you will, or your bunk-mates will, who will in turn give you cookies)

notepad and pen

if you only have ugly black shoes for running in mud, bring nice looking ballet flats or spats, maybe polish, for guys

a white shirt and black pants
ill update this later (unlikely)

Costuming Question. Does anyone have a tan Explorer’s hat? Or a whole explorer’s outfit for that matter? That they wouldnt mind me using for The Great Exhibition?
The hats probably the hardest thing to find, I should be able to op shop the rest of the costume, but borrowing if its avaliable is the cheaper option

try titirangi theater for costume hire its cheap, small shop, well made, authentic looking.

Has anybody recieved any replies towards the character selection?

I got confirmation some time ago, apart from the fact that I also got it confirmed right after I emailed to GMs when the cast was just open.
Apparently the character sheets themselves are gonna be sent somewhere around 1 August.

Hey James - you registered about a week after the first round of casting emails went out. But don’t worry, they know you exist and are working on casting you. I’ll ask when you can expect to hear from them

I might be able to help you there, I have one you could borrow but it’s made out of bamboo… Still if you are interested PM me.

I suggest googling or wikipediaing your character, asmost of them are known historical figures orfictional characters. but that comes from someone who has a historical character so if it doesn’t come up with anything than a little more info would probably be helpful

My character is not an historical person, and is, I’m told, an obscure literary reference. No Google Fu for me!

I would think it’s about the character name rather than the character sheet, but I may be wrong. Because they have most of names brightened out in the list that means those are taken - so there should have been some confirmation going to the players…

I know my character’s name but that’s all so far. I don’t think the sheets are out yet.

Sheets are not out. They are forecasted to be ready in early August. You should have received a confirmation email along the lines of:
Dear Anna,

Thank you for registering to play the Great Exhibition at Chimera 2009. You have been assigned the character Wilhelmina Murray

Character sheets will be sent out closer to the game.

Thanks and see you at Chimera,
The Great Exhibition Team
If you have not received this, please let me know and I will alert the organisers.

There currently ten characters still available to play in the Great Exhibition:

Male
Alexander Bell
Captain Nemo
Cyril Ravenswood
Robert E Lee
Jacob Disraeli

Female
Helena Blavatsky
Sarah Jensen
Mary Gladstone
Xi Shi
Ching Shih

There’s a new female character available too:

Sarah Jensen - Female - Young friend of Oscar Wilde, eager to see the exhibits - Victorian Dress

Missing character confirmations for Great Exhibition:

Rowena and the organisers definitely sent out all character confirmations. There were about four bounces but we got in touch with those people through other means (and obtained correct email addresses for them too)

For those who have said they haven’t got the character confirmation, we checked your email addresses against what we got in your game selections/registrations and they matched (and since a lot of them were people I knew already, I know they were correct addresses) Please check your spam filters to see if they haven’t eaten the email.

If you have any concerns at all about the game, get in touch with Rowena and her team at greatexhibition@gmail.com - they’re good about helping out, and it is imperative that they are able to communicate with you all in order to get the vital character sheets to the right places
