On a related note, it has occurred to me that chairs and levels can also be used to denote status - if you set a room so lower status individuals have to stand (due to lack of chairs) and highest status individuals are on a raised platform with a chair, possibly with the option of medium status individuals having an easier way of getting to the highest status individuals, that should create an automatic hierarchy with minimal effort. Something I’ve been wanting to experiment with myself.

That’s a good idea. I’ve been in some games that went the other way as well - no chairs, just cushions on the floor, and that did cool things to the game dynamic.
