The Devil's Brood at ConFusion

“A man’s enemies are the men of his own House” – Giraldus Cambrensis

“From the Devil we sprang and to the Devil we shall go” – Angevin family legend

Christmas 1183: King Henry of England, the most powerful king in Christendom, has summoned his family together at Chinon to celebrate Christmas. The King of France will be in attendance, and the Queen has been released from prison for the occasion. But behind the celebration, Henry’s empire is in crisis. The death of his eldest son has placed the succession in doubt, the Queen has been imprisoned for the last decade, his children war incessantly among themselves, and France waits greedily to regain what it has lost.

A 9 player Angevin family drama, based on The Lion in Winter.

Super keen to play this, Idiot!

Edited to add: I’d like to be Alais of France, please.

Me too, to play the game, not necessarily to play Alais of France…

Thanks.

Noted. So we have no female and 3 male spaces left.

I’m keen on one of the male slots Idiot.

likewise

One more space left then.

Nick Pitt says he is keen.

Which makes us full. Huzzah!

Guess I should email people about casting so they can sort costume.

i’d love to be in if you get any room or plan on running it again

Who is playing whom?

(This cast-list has been redacted for privacy reasons, there being no good reason to leave it lying around after over a year. If you wish to know who you played, please get in contact - I/S)

Character sheets and background info will be emailed out tomorrow, after I’ve given them a tweak. I’d appreciate feedback on them, since this is also a playtest aimed at spotting problems before the Chimera one.

Hi all,

Thanks for a fun game. A big shout out to Scott for being a “great” husband, Nick P and Nick C for being such good boys! Mumma’s proud of you both. Sorry Bryn, I just really didn’t like John. He was such a disappointment.

Also strong mention to Naomi, Katrina and Ellen for being my daughter in laws, past, present and future!

Moment of the night was when Geoffery asked for a moment and then proceeded to ask why I didn’t love him as much of the others. Tears pricked the eyes. But I managed to hold it together, and I think convince him that I loved him just as much and Richard.

Also, go Team Family (Henry, Richard and Eleanor) for achieving all our goals.

I apologise for my limited photography skills. Too many taken at distance in a dim room.

Thank you all for such a great game. I had immense fun playing everybody off against one another. I have never felt quite so machiavellian.

That was a great moment Sophie and the most heartfelt and vulnerable of my evening as Geoffrey. Even at my most genuine it still managed to be manipulative.

And special thanks to Naomi as my devoted wife. We almost had it all; if only everyone hadn’t been so damned reasonable!

Yeah, what’s with everyone making the reasonable choices? Things would have been so much better for us the other way! Perhaps we should have hedged our bets Nick? :smiling_imp:

Was fun to play with you all. Easily the most political Larp I’ve been in.
