Thanks for Chimera

Anna and Rowena especially, but also the cooks, GMs and everyone who attended. I had a fantastic event.

Definitely Anna and Rowena, and everyone helping them, everyone who ran a game, photo ninja Judit, all the players of Truth, Justice, Spandex (I love you guys!), and everyone else.

… so… now what do I do?

Thank you! This was a great convention. Especially to all the people who did the boring admin and logistics stuff - it couldn’t happen without you, and I really appreciate the time you put in bringing the awesome.

Recover.

I would also like so thank all the people involved in making something like Chimera work. Without them, it would not be teh awesome. And to the players, much sweetness to y’all. You made Chimera an excellently established event. To the newbie’s wherever they are, thanks for coming I hope we didn’t scare you for life. And finally to the players of All the President’s Zombies, thanks for putting up with a man who had no idea what he was doing. That is all…

I want to add my thanks as well to all of you involved. You have made it a fixture on my calender to make the trip up from Wellington each year. And lots of great friends in Auckland now.

And yeah recovering sounds good, not sure why I have larpwriter open though…

My thanks are many and varied.

First, the obligatory but well deserved thanks to Anna, Rowena, Kim, Sara, Liz, all the other admin and food people. You make things happen.

Second, thanks to those who voted for me with both the Nexus Costume, and the Jade Empire costume and Best Roleplayer. I can’t express how amazing it feels to have others tell you that you are good at something you love to do.

Third, the Pirate game Sunday Morning: Anna for letting me join at a moments notice, Tigger for being the best Don a spaniard could ever be a valet for (seriously, just how devoted was Salmanca?), but mostly the other players, who scattered and managed to kit me up in a flat matter of seconds! You guys (Vanya, Prema, Walter especially) rock!

Fourth, to the great new friends I met from Wellington.

Fifth, to everyone I got to roleplay with this weekend, which hopefully was all of you!

Last, but most important: Thanks to all my players from Happy Birthday RJ on Saturday afternoon. You made the game go so smoothly, and it was fun and enjoyable for everyone. It was almost like each person was made for their parts! If you were a late sign on, you’re awesome, if you were one of those who stuck it out from the very first listing of the game on the website, thank you too!

And we love you! Platonically! :stuck_out_tongue:

I seriously don’t know how to thank Anna and co. enough. Will chocolate do? Brownies? The weekend was amazing and, while I do not envy the amount of work you had to put in to make it so, I am very very very very VERY grateful.

I had a blast this weekend- thank you so much to everyone who organised, or who I GM’d or was in games with me.

I would like to thank Anna for being the one sitting on top of it all and herding the many cats of this event. Without her, I would never have had such a great weekend. I would also like to thank all those people who helped her, whether that be by printing paper, cooking food, keeping the money safe, running games, or just carrying a box of props; all these things, no matter how small, added to the most amazing weekend I have had all year!

Chimera was the first large-scale larping convention I’ve ever been to. Before Chimera, I had attended Fleet Street (also run by Anna) in Wellington. I’ve learned a lot about my roleplaying preferences, and a lot about what makes a good larp (and what doesn’t). All of my experience this weekend has been enjoyable or useful in some way, shape, or form. I will certainly be coming to Chimera for many, many years to come.

The best parts of the weekend, for me, were listening to the accounts of the other players, the parts of the games they were in that were amazing, or hilarious, or tragic, or just plain weird. It was also enjoyable to give my account of my favourite moments, and see the faces of other people I had never met until that weekend light up with grins and smiles; hearing the voices of so many excited people and laughter bouncing off the walls! It was great, and I’m certain I shall be talking to others about this Chimera for weeks to come (until the next larp distracts me)!

Thanks to everyone for a brilliant weekend.

First time I’ve done all six rounds - well worth it!

Big ups to the cooks, I bought a lunch on Sunday and was very impressed with the quality and value.

Thanks to everyone involved in this years Chimera. I have been to 3 Chimera’s now, this was the first I could stay for all of the rounds.

It was epic, it was fun, it was physically and mentally exhausting.

The organisers deserve extra special thanks, as not only did they organise it but for the most part they didn’t get to play in many games. I don’t know if I could go to this event and not play in every round let alone the sacrifices Anna and her team made.

To the Refuge team, thanks for your huge effort, this was my first big “social based” larp despite having come to 3 conventions. It was a learning experience for me and I’m up for more! Thank you for your time and effort.

And to every other person I interacted with. Thanks for coming along. Because in the end, its the people who come along who really make this convention work.

Thanks to soooo many people. Thanks to Anna, Rowena, Liz, Dave and everybody who made the weekend happen.
Thanks to Kim and Sara in the kitchen. The meals were great.
Refuge team: I love you all. you did a great job and created an amazing roleplaying experience. what a record: 95 people!
Thanks to everyone who came and played and made it such a fantastic weekend. See you next year
