  4. Armageddon

  5. Other Business

  6. Action Points and minutes reviewed and accepted (barring a couple of actions not completed).

  7. AMERICA association.
Shared membership? Exchange LARP details? Overlap with partial discount.
Promoting each others’ larps. Also AMERICA does tabletopping and some wargaming as well as LARPing.
    This will be reviewed later.

  8. Financial update by Steve
    Stargate expenses $48, earned $50 + gear.
Bought a generator for $114. Coins $50. Space-suits $130. These are all really good gear assets. All claims at the moment add up to $510. The account contains about 2050. Mordavia weekends take about a thousand dollar float, but there probably will not be a weekend game till sometime in summer. So financially we are doing pretty well and are in a good position to help with new games etc.
We have been thinking of getting a trailer to help transport gear. While this is beyond our resources at the moment we could apply for a Lion Foundation grant, as this is not for a one-off game, and is not costume or make-up. Auckland City Council is another possibility but they would prefer to fund some kind of cultural LARP, like the historical New Zealand Maori larp that has been suggested.

  9. Post LARP Reviews: Stargate trial game, 10 people. Broke even, has some gear which will be used again, and more gear will be made for new games. The rules have been rewritten from 2 pages to 23 pages (most of which is actually character generation). However none of the missions were completed. Julianne learned a lot of lessons. The puzzles worked really well, and the trials of the combat system were useful.

  10. Upcoming LARPS.
    Warhammer
    Marc says:
Just a quick update on the warhammer larp, sorry have taken so long – OK official workd from Games Workshop is now it infringes on their intellectual property but have sent another email asking them to reconsider.
    Options are either
    a) run it anyway
    b) change the details but keep the basis the same
    c) drop the larp
b is probably the best option to go with I think.
There seem to be more problems with even using the same races and things, because of all the names Games Workshops have trademarked. Apparently their main problem was that we’d be taking in money from the LARP. Possibly we could have a paid convention, and have a free game in it.

Mordavia
Ryan says:
Mordavia is in day-game mode at the moment. I’m filtering and discussing day-game concepts with people as they arise. Mike’s Winterspite is the only day game to go ahead out of these.
As for the next weekend game, I think Spring or Summer. I’d like to have a new Operations person to find and book the venue, book catering, etc. I’ll advertise for a new Mordavia Operations Organiser after Winterspite.
I’m not aware of the finances currently. Steve Shipway should be able to give feedback on that. As I understand it the last two games (weekend and day) were both well in the black. It would be useful for organising the next weekend event to know how much money we have spare to pre-book a venue and invest into equipment.
Well, we know the money situation is good (see #3), so that’s OK.

Island Larp
Anna says:
Sure thing. Island LARP is currently in a state of massive brainstorming. Provisional location has been chosen, but is extremely tenuous at this point due to costs. The LARP is still currently seeking co-organiser/crew. It will run either right before or right after the peak camping season it is still unsure at this point. There is rook in the LARP for five or six crew, and any number of players, though at least ten would be nice. I intend to run the LARP as a project of NZLARPS and am working my way through the official forms. With any luck, I will propose the idea to the committee at the next meeting. Possibly to be in October, will be a weekend long LARP. Will likely be about $50, total budget about $1000 to run.

Nibelungen; Craig.
THE SPACESUITS ARE COOL! They were $130 for three. Such a good bargain!
They may need some ventilation though. Will also be useful for Stargate and other games still to be designed.

Stargate; Julianne
There will be another trial game, this time open, and then Episode 1. It should be a low-cost LARP due to not having to hire a venue. New props will be made. There may also be someone willing to co-GM. The next trial game will be mainly to get people to know the rules, and also work out any bugs. The rules will be put on the Stargate forum, and a Crew Forum will be made,

Og; Steve
Next one will be in spring. People should get their clubs ready and stitch (or tan) up some costume – cause there will be more silly caveman fun! Provisional date is the second Sunday in September. Hopefully we will get more players! It’ll be run in the same format, with characters given out (no XP). At the moment Steve’s a bit short on plot. This time there will be a price break – so pay in advance and get in cheap!

Mayday in Wellington; Craig
This is going to be in about the third week of September, which may well clash with NAAMA or people’s exams. It’s hoped to also take a group of NZLARPS people to the Wellington WOW (World Of Wearable Arts).

Ravenholme; Brian
Wanted: venue for Gothic fantasy LARP.

Pirate LARP; Lucy.
Tuesday the 19th of September, International Talk Like A Pirate Day, evening in London Bar. How will we work the cost, and drinks, etc.? Perhaps Rhiannon should do a ‘How To Make A Paper Pirate Hat’ workshop beforehand? And we could give out paper pirate hats at the door so passersby and mundanes could have a go at talking like a pirate, etc.

  1. Web site
It turns out a lot of the hits are on the Golem and pictures, and others scattered randomly over the other pages.
We should think of having our main projects in an easily accessed arrangement, for example all of them at www.mordavia.com.

  2. Media Release. Ryan’s idea. Adam got Steph to write us up a media release statement (which shall be added here later). We changed some tiny bits (mostly capitalising letters). Mike and Adam will research where to send it.

  3. AGM discussion.
When to have it? We decided that possibly the best time to have it is the Wednesday before the Pirate LARP, 13th September. Or, maybe Monday. Lucy will be organising most of the theatresport games, there will also (hopefully) be a short session on how to make pirate hats, and how to talk like a pirate.
We will hold the nominations on the Diatribe Forum, or in writing as specified by the Constitution. Nominations will have to be seconded, and finalised a specific time before the AGM. The relevant parts of the Constitution will be posted at the beginning of the Nominations thread. Venue needs to be checked out.

  4. Armageddon
Unfortunately it would cost $1100 to get a small stall there. This is WAY out of our price range. They may be willing to give us a discount because of being a non-profit organisation. However, we don’t think there’s anything to stop us setting up outside in Aotea Square and running round as werewolves or golems or whatever.

  5. Other Business
The Financial forecast from Winterspite was gone over quickly. Winterspite was officially approved as a Project (unanimous). Joining forms should also be brought to the game.
We decided it would be a good idea to foster new GM’s with games that are being run in the near future, in the hope of getting newer people used to running games so we can have lots of cool new games.

Action Points:

Adam – research Lion Foundation grants.
Craig, Rhiannon – keep researching business cards.
Adam – contact Brian for Ravenholme.
Steve – send update of Og to Craig for the site.
Craig – update website with new pages, Og, and Mayday.
Steve – Get circuitboard for/to Craig.
Adam, Mike – research media release data.
Adam – email press release statement to Rhiannon.
Rhiannon – research how to make good paper Pirate Hats
Lucy – organise some theatresport games for the AGM.
Adam or Craig – post up AGM and election details on forum.
Everyone – check out function rooms we might be able to use for a venue for the AGM.
AJ – find out who’s interested in running games, and create a foster-GM service.

Not quite right on the space-suits - I took it as I was selling TWO to nzLARPS for $120 and keeping the third myself. Let me know if I’m wrong. You can’t have three for 130 :stuck_out_tongue:

Also I think the idea was to foster new game organisers, not GM’s.
ie players with ideas who want to create a day game.
