T Minus - Airsoft LARP mix - 14th June 2008, Input required

As requested, let’s try it again

Date looks good to me…

I’m in. Looking at your game formats and seeing if any can be adapted.

I put forward the scenario I described in the previous thread…

I have
Little details like computer hacking are too finicky for our regular players but if it makes your experience better we will definitely add it in

Idea so far.
We will use N.Korea and ASG again to keep some consistency when doing a LARP crossover.

North Korea are launching a ‘communications’ satellite (Florin 1).
The coalition of the willing have enlisted ASG once again to do their bidding.
Their mission is to steal data from Mission Control or reprogram the SATellite directly.

ASG have subcontracted the technical part of the missions to Guilder Group.

edit:
there were more props planned for the other game but due to insufficient setup assistance (I was not going to be on the field from 6am) they were scrapped.

Props for this game,
3x laptops working (Got some old ones)
Other laptops for show (nab some on their way to the bin)
Barrier tape, to mark off silo entrance
Camps, stuff to setup mission control.

Being the reviews I’ve seen I’m in for this one!

I got some old lappies and stuff you can use.

I’ve got a couple of busted machines for show.

And a UPS to use in combination with a generator.

NZLarps does, of course, have a generator in the gear library which might be available for borrowing, if you do not have one of your own.

start and finish time?

If no one is in a hurry to leave we can start later.

Usually 1000 - 1500 is about all most can handle.

Can I please have a GM for the LARP side of this game.
Need to button down the details and story now

have been reading the previous AS/LARP thread … some people there voiced their concerns in regards to AS people not getting into the LARPs mentality enuf for you guys … as an AS person, we werent too sure how far you guys are willing to go thats why we had to be slightly lax at our ways of treating you … but if the people attending this month’s games state early on how far we can go (realistic, drag u on the ground, demoralise and shoot you where it’ll hurt kinda stuff), i’ll be one of the Rebels and we can easily accomodate that (well i can and a few of the other players i can talk to) if you want and give you a very realistic scenario

as for personal protection during an actual firefight, i’d recommend what Westie has sugested, wearing loose long sleeved shirts, denim/thick pants and gloves to take some of the sting away … as for eye protection, there are goggles thats specifically designed to fit over glasses, but you just have to purchase them as most borrowed ones wont be, unless the person wears glasses themselves … unfortunately, most AS people do not specifically aim for the Non-Combatants, its more a case of stray bullets … you know, kinda like if you have a UN or CNN jacket in an actual war zone lol …

as for working laptops, i’d prolly ask if we can keep this out of the games involving projectiles as there’s a very high chance that the LCD could be shot out in the first encounter (as prolly some of you would remember, BBs whizzing past your heads/ears, of the first encounter after you have been picked up from the van) as the firefight will be very chaotic and crazy … i was quite suprised that none of the LARPs/hostages decided to be a traditional hostage by running around like a headless chicken in the middle of the firefight ROLF

anyways … hope to shoot you guys at the game

Last night I had a meeting with Kham and Daniel to discuss how we can bring airsoft and larp together in a way that would be heaps of fun for both parties. Both of them were lovely guys and really keen to put on a good event and get us involved.

We came up with a number of interesting and exciting roles - some of them are quite PC-ish, others are slightly more NPC-ish, but the scenario is going to be packed with adrenaline pumping action, as well as strategy…and we get to make some mayhem in the midst of it all.

It would be really cool if we could get a decent sized larper turn out for this game - the airsoft guys have gone to a lot of effort to include us, the least we can do is turn up - so if you’re interested, PM me to discuss roles.

This is going to be fun, so don’t miss out
