Swedish larp double feature

2 short Swedish discourse larps, one night. Play one or both as you prefer. Warning: these games deal with content such as religion, drug abuse, extreme drunkenness, and waking up wondering what the hell you did last night.

A Serpent of Ash (19:00 - 21:00)
A LARP by J. Tuomas Harviainen and Eric Johnson

For a few years in the early 21st century, “The Liberated” was an active religious sect in the Boston area. It’s leader was Timothy Barke, who claimed that God spoke directly to him. Members lived in a communal house, donated their income to the sect, and lived by a strict code of conduct so that they could receive Timothy’s sermons. In 2002 Timothy passed away, and soon after The Liberated collapsed. Members went back into the real world and tried to lead normal lives; communication between them all but ceased. Now, five years later, several of them have gathered together for a few hours to discuss how The Liberated affected their lives. A Serpent of Ash is a larp about the dark side of religion: What happens when former cult members meet again? What has been left unsaid? A discourse-oriented game for 6-12 players that has been run at major conventions in Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Prayers on a Porcelain Altar (21:15 - 23:00)

You’re still feeling so dizzy that getting on a bus is right out of the question. So you’ll be here at least an hour and a half more. Upstairs, where you all slept, is a dump right now. You do not want to go there again. Plus the blood-covered sheets in one of the two double beds look really disturbing. Oh, it would also be nice to know what the hell actually happened.

WHEN: Saturday 10 March (next weekend!), 18:30 - late. We have the venue from 18:30 - midnight. Serpent will start at 19:00 and should run for two hours. Prayers will start after a short intermission (15 minutes), and should run for 1.5 hours. We have some time for slippage.

HOW TO GET THERE BY BUS: take the number 7 Kingston bus and get off at the Brooklyn library, walk up Harrison St to the end.
HOW MUCH: Both games: $25, $20 for NZLARPs members. Single game: $15, $10 for NZLARPS members. You’ll need to pay in cash.
