Thank you to all the people who’ve participated in the game, both players and Mike, Nick and Judit who contributed proof reading, artwork and photos. Much appreciated. Also thanks to Cat, my co-writer, and Ryan whose Black Hart of Camelot game I totally raided for ideas on how to present this for publication.

About photos of playtesters:
I sent out a preview email to the last known email address I had of everybody letting them know what photos I wanted to use, as well as one about five minutes ago for playtesters’ complimentary copies. If you didn’t get the email, and do object to a photo of you in the game, please get in touch soonest so that I can edit it out.

If you are a member of NZLARPS and would like a complimentary copy, please PM me with your email address and I’ll send you a coupon for the free version.

Cheers,

Stephanie

Very cool Steph, great to see more NZ larps getting published.

And we have a review: blubrry.com/outofcharacter/1 … d-the-law/ (Podcast, 6:48-9:08)

I just listened to the podcast, sounds like they like the games, which is way cool. Also I found interesting in the lead up, is mention of other podcasts from people talking about RPG and larps, which are linked to on this page. May be worth checking out too.

The rest of the podcast was pretty interesting, too - a very wide ranging discussion of law enforcement in roleplaying games.

Great coverage - jealous!

Well done Steph!

Ryan, no reason you can’t get in touch with that show yourself and see if they’d be interested in reviewing DHoC.

What I should probably do is release a review copy to all the reviewers on RPGNow, which seems to be how these folks heard about Steph’s games. I haven’t tried that option yet.

Absolutely!

So far, I’ve gotten 3-4 downloads of the ‘complimentary’ versions I sent out to the players, and 2-3 downloads of review copies to the ‘featured’ reviewers (plus a small number of sales). After that short piece in the podcast, the hits for the Super Sparkle game went through the roof, so yeah, I figure it’s worth it in terms of getting eyeballs on the page. If nothing else, I don’t think I lose much by spotting people who like writing reviews a free copy, and the gain in attention can be a lot, just from one positive plug.

So I should finish writing that rpg.net review then?

I would love for you to write a review. Can I bribe you with food?

I’ve sent Camelot out to the featured reviewers, will watch with interest.

No need. You’ve already given me a copy of the game.
I’ve sent Camelot out to the featured reviewers, will watch with interest.
Another thing that might be worth trying is to put out extra, related, content, like a couple of free ‘bonus’ characters or the printed version. The new content would start getting front page coverage again, and link back to the original game.
