Posts made in Star Wars about the rules system there and the viability for said rules working in combat were not removed out of respect for the interested parties and to allow others who view the starwars forum to have a well rounded view of the larp.
This has resulted in the Star Wars player base being a well rounded bunch who all openly accept that the game works the way the rules list it and thanks to the ic/ooc days that we have (where we play for a small amount of time in the morning and then have a sit down chat at somone’s house with drinks and snacks afterwards) what Wong and I have created is an open forum where players can bring their concerns to us. None of the rules and calls are hidden from players and it means they are able to provide feedback and we have acted upon points from players to change the rules and the rulebook be it for clarity or to make rules more simple to understand.
I took the advice of the community onboard and reduced the number of calls in the game and have slowly been introducing them as the campaign continues (and it will), there have been learning points as I feel all larps have and the harshest moment for me as a GM so far has been having a player come up to me and ask why they had not been told the true reason for their trip into some very dark and dangerous caves.
Unfortunatly all the information had been given to a select few players who had military rank who had then chosen to not share this information with the civilians of the group instead informing them that they needed to recover some crates…
While this is very hard to control as a GM (players doing as they see fit) I did honnestly feel for this player - the player had up until then been kept in the loop about everything that occured in the game due to the nature of the previous events and it is somthing that Wong and I are looking into to ensure that we minimise the loss of information through the playerbase which has up until this game been fantastic.
What I would like to hear from people is their own opinions on if topics should remain inside the game thread they are spawned by (even if they are moved out of one topic into a new one as they leave importance and relation to the origional post) or if all posts that could be classified as a general question should instead be moved to the ‘General discussion’ board.
