Any one playing as a Jedi should start as a novie, and shoudl have a jedi bossing them about. This person could be an NPC, just to keep an eye on them and keep the game balanced.
You can imagine the Jedi stopping the learner from reacting to some one or other, with wise Zen words for them to contemplate.
Or not, as you like it really, just a suggestion.

Yeah Jedi would have to adhere to the Jedi code very strictly. and there would be no going over to the dark side because you want to do what you like. A Jedi Master would just show up and kick your dark side ass
As to the time period, Derek had a great idea for time in his Greek larp that could easily be used for this Star Wars larp.
Because many Greek heroes embark on many quests and journeys, Derek made every character st the start of their journey. This way, it’s possible to have two characters in the same game, who are lifetimes apart in the real world (the ancient one).
So, the timeline is not concrete. You could have Darth Maul and Luke Skywalker in the same game, even though their lifespans did not overlap.
Everything could be at a beginning, for example the Jedi religion could have only just been established, making it possible for development and restricting power available to PCs.
Of course, Jedi could always be reserved for the NPCs…
How does that all sound?
I like the idea of the discovery of the force. I think you could play a game like that. It could be a three episode game that begins with one person finding they are able to move things with their mind (Matilda-like).
Low-power force-effects can be achieved with industrial magnets on the palm of padded gloves. In the second episode when these powers have matured, you can build in electronics and have players carry a phat battery in the bottom of their backpacks. This would allow players to set their force to “push” or “pull” at will.
Instead of light sabre duels in these early stages, players can fight hand-to-hand (with force-assisted blocking) and by throwing/blasting specially made, safe, metal “hits” at each other (able to be blocked/rejected by correct use of your magnets).
As the players’ powers develop, NPC “non jedi’s” would wear large magnetic disks on their chests, and could thereby be pulled/pushed from a distance.
So there you go.
Dibs on being a gonk droid
No. Just… no.
Cameron informs me this idea would be fine for small tricks but that’s about it.
Oh well.
There goes your plan for world domination, Magneto. What are you going to do with that silly helmet now?
A bugger it I’m going to write something. You can either like it or not.
I’d probably most enjoy playing a rebellion-era stormtrooper in a squad. Once you’ve got the costume sorted, you can just come back and play another one when you die (which you will, endlessly).
I’m from the original Star Wars generation. The new three have some nice points, but the original trilogy are the real Star Wars to me. My favourite period would probably be early rebellion, before Luke gets out in the world. Pity to miss out on the Jedi costumes, but apart from that I wouldn’t miss Jedi in a larp because they’re so difficult to make rules for and represent live. Some minor force powers would work. “This is not the droid you’re looking for”.
Have you seen the fan film Troops? It’s fantastic and very funny, Star Wars meets Cops.

I totally agree to be honest. Original trilogy all the way. I’m thinking a very few NPC game with 3 sides on an Outer Rim world. So all the PCs pick a side: Imperials, Rebels or the Hutts/Blacksun (I haven’t decided yet).
Also the DIY LARP site that you can get to from the Mordavai website has instructions for Stromtrooper armour.
No I haven’t seen troops yet, but I plan to go find it right now.
The question has to be asked will storm troopers actually have the ability to hit anything on screen…
but they never hit anyone onscreen ever…
Watch the opening of a New Hope.
Plus i choose to believe that the quote:
Is a comment about placement of demolitions charges…
I mean look at the armour on that sandcrawler and the speed its going its not out of the question that they placed demo packs and blew the tracks to buggery so that it would be stationary
