Sociology Research on LARP Subculture

Hi all, I’m doing a research project on LARP subculture (and whether it exists). Could you please answer my surveys:
polldaddy.com/s/D96CCA0E86B6C807/
polldaddy.com/s/69EE5908CB87F3EB/

Thank you very much! Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

The person who answered ‘Sometimes I feel that we can speak a different language to those around us who don’t LARP’ to the last question- can you please elaborate on that?

I’d also be interested to know if people have come in from related hobbies.

For example, if they were introduced by a friend, were they doing a similar hobby, such as:
[ul][li]table top RPGs (DND etc)[/li]
[li]medieval reenactment (AS&S, SCA etc)[/li]
[li]martial arts[/li]
[li]theater/acting[/li]
[li]milsims (paint ball, airsoft etc)[/li][/ul]

I have submitted my answers! Well last week actually. Hope they help.

Who are those power gamers/munchers? There is a question on them, but I don’t know what this term means, can someone explain please?

Being a power gamer or munchkin means focusing on making your character powerful, especially by using creative intepretations of the rules.

Sometimes power gamers are seen as focussing so much on power that they suck at staying in character, behaving in a believable manner, etc.
