Social drinking in larps

What are the good non-alcoholic ideas for it?
The one coming to my mind is those bottles of grape juice-like stuff that are packed looking like wine bottles. They make good IC look and they are yummy too.
However, I am hunting for other options to potentially include into my pre-larp shopping basket as well - so?

I like ginger beer as a “feels like I’m drinking” kind of drink.

Water. It works as a visual substitute for vodka and gin. Throw some sliced lemon, lime or orange and ice cubes and you have something should feel pretty neat. Also drinking anything out of a wine glass makes it feel more like wine even if it isn’t.

I only drink water, coffee and alcohol so I know I’m not most people. I remember at Chimera during the Robin Hood game imbibing the hangover tonic. OOC it was some kind of sickly sweet grape juice or some such. I was IC so I just went with it, but it was making me feel ill (too much sugar) so after a few I asked for the water version.

I think that having a range is good for people who want different things from their drinks. In which case I think the vessels are going to be the thing that helps make something feel more like something than the actual drink itself.

Norman does some fantastic non alcoholic Moscow Mules.

Shott do a lovely Spiced Berry concentrate that I use as a ‘spiced wine’, it’s particulary lovely when served hot.

Vessel actually is a good point. In Witch House my character runs around drinking from very IC flask, which in fact is my little water bottle.
Ginger beer - lol, yes, that works.
Things that require a bit of extra preparation can probably be used for roleplaying around preparation too, that includes coffee (which I’m a big fan of)

This. A thousand times this, especially in a rainy May weekend.

Come to the tent of the Tariqa. We have coffee!

Also the best hot chocolate in Cormere with grated chocolate and cinnamon on top of it.

Alas, the only thing we do not have is dancers…

Macs do a range of non-alcoholic drinks that come in brown bottles & six/four packs at the supermarket that look a lot like normal beer bottles. Includes ginger beer, lemon crush, feijoa & pear and green apple.
I guess there are other brands out there too, like Phoenix.

In the cordials section there are fruit juice concentrates, like blackcurrent - I use the Barkers, because their glass bottle have a good wide neck to be able to wash out & re-use. I even found mix for Mojito which is the lime & mint flavour.

You could also try mineral water, either sparkling or still, if you want something with a bit of bite and not sugary.

For feasts, there are also recipes for non-alcoholic mulled ‘wine’ that use apple juice as a base. (There was some leftover in the kitchen after The Rose and the Dragon. It was a great winding down drink.)

I totally would if I was in Teonn. I hear it’s a great hang out place. Such things in larps should be encouraged, mehtinks.

Wow, do you have a pet chocolate elemental there?

Yup, I noticed you are compensating it well in 1001.

I think before the next big larp weekend I’m gonna just print out this thread and run around the drinks in supermarket comparing with my printout.
Mineral water actually sounds like a great idea.
Didn’t know Mac do non-alcohol, it sounds good to me.
I googled mulled wine (I am not quite sure what it is) and pictures look impressive, they have fruits too. The idea of snacks to go with drinks is attractive.

I second Derek’s hot chocolate claim.

I wasn’t a fan of hot chocolate with cinnamon before, but now… cinnamon and chocolate to top a hot chocolate… (I’m lucky to be in a workplace that lets me get away with making that for myself.)
