So is anybody making any cool stuff at the moment?

Yes, I have been making a costume for three years now. It ran into a bump and I paused at a problem and haven’t taken it up again.

What is the bump?

Just a houppelande for my flatmate David. It’s green. There are eight metres in the outer fabric alone (and it’s still not as bouffy as some of them were reputed to be).

Does anyone realise how hard it is to find visual references for 11th C Jewish folk? We eventually settled on the houppe as standard merchant gear, with a pointy yellow hat on top. I’m still not entirely happy with the research/authenticity shtick.

There are about ten litres of spiced wine in my room… Does that count?

And, making crossbow bolts (for SCA combat) from snapped arrows.

My next big projects will be an SCA basket-hilt sword, a glaive, one of these, and this.

I’m making a space ship.

I’m making something very large, not as large as a spaceship, but much larger than a person.

Oh shit.

Do you need a MIG welder?

Actually, you could make a very small spaceship, like the Saturn V landing capsule, that only had enough room to sit two people in two chairs with a bunch of buttons, dials and stuff…
