Check it out - Civil Defense Emergency Management are having a big larp today.

On November 13 at Mt Smart Stadium about 115 people will be briefed at a meeting hosted by the Auckland regional CDEM group. The participants will be from emergency services, local authorities, the CDEM sector, science organisations, welfare organisations, utilities, first responders and central government.

Within the exercise, they will be told that the simulated first rumblings of the Auckland volcanic field have been detected and will culminate in a simulated eruption on 13-14 March 2008.

“While the lead at this stage of the exercise lies firmly with the regional group, we must take the precaution of being prepared more widely. Our preparation and response must be at national, regional and local levels,” Mr Hutchinson said. “A major event in Auckland would have social and economic implications for the whole country and for our international reputation.”

Probably not. Virgins, we need more virgins to through into the volcano. Seem to be in pretty short supply these days though

Someone I know is involved in this. I can’t remember who, but I distinctly remember someone telling me they were going to this.

I couldn’t find any at Ravenholme which was annoying as Elizabeth Bathory had certain expectations to live up to.

Lol, and my character wasnt even at the start of the game, I was rather bemused to get your letter and then get it rescinded when my condition hadnt changed :stuck_out_tongue:

Civil defence exercises are one big LARP.

I remember a weekend once for training where at 3am in the morning we were traipsing through a 20 acre forest looking for three people with different sort of injuries.

It was really my idea of a good time, but the exercises were quite fun sometimes (just not when we got the emergency calls at that time of morning!)
