Sharing the load

(Echoed from Facesuck)

How can we better share the load of writing, running and organising (theatreform) larps?

We’ve just had a key organizer in Wellington announce a larp holiday because writing two flagships in a year has left them a bit burned out (and understandably so). In the process they’ve highlighted how much of the load here falls on a small pool of people. And its not just a problem for Wellington - Auckland seems to have a similarly narrow pool. So how can we share that load?

[li] on the running front, there are some very good games on the internet, and I have an enormous pile here for people to run, so many that I haven’t read them all (OK; some I’m deliberately not reading in the hope that someone else will run them). All they need is for someone to step up and produce them. The easiest way to learn how to produce a larp is to run one at a con - that cuts out all the hassle with venue and finding players and props. If you want to run a standalone event, we have a FAQ for that, and I’m happy to provide help with budgeting and logistics to make it happen. Anyone want to step up?[/li]
[li] on the writing front: I’ve already mentioned that I’d like to run a writer’s weekend in the hope of getting a game (or two) to run for Armageddon. Possibly we could also use that as a way of getting people who want to learn into the habit. What sort of demand would there be for this, and when would people want it to happen? Could we run a shorter event, where we pitch ideas, throw plot at the wall, and aim to produce a plot schema and cast-list (what I call a treatment) or even a finished plot-web ready for grinding rather than a complete larp?[/li][/ul]

Anyone have any other ideas? Or (better yet) want to stick their hand up?
