Does anyone have an overlocker, or know anyone that would be happy for me to borrow a bit of time on it? I have a couple of garments that are desperately in need.

This is probably a way too obvious question, but do you know about setting your sewing machine to a wide zigzag stitch and running it over the raw edges? (Sorry, no overlocker here.)
I do, and that’s what I do usually, but this top is just too sheer a fabric 
I love it and I don’t want to lose it!

(Hand sew around the edge so the thread ends up as a spiral that seals the raw threads?) It would take ages, but it would probably work if you can’t get hold of an overlocker.

Thanks for the offer! I took it to a professioanl sewing place in the end - it’s not as nice as I think I would have made it, but at least it’s fixed.
I’ll remember in case I ever need one again though!
