I just posted this on the committee forum, but that might be the entirely wrong place to post it. This forum, where you fine people can read it, is probably a better place.
Here’s my concern:
I’ve just been going through the Immersion address list in preparation for sending out the forthcoming issue in the next day or two. I’ve been highlighting the people who have had memberships expire and haven’t renewed.
As I understand it nzLARPS is presently on 38 current members, with 19 members who have expired in the past few months who have not renewed their memberships.
This concerns me, because I like being able to send shiny Immersions to people. And also, I think it’s the kind of thing presidents get concerned about.
Mostly, I’m wondering why people aren’t rejoining nzLARPS and if there is something we, nzLARPS, could do about it.
Is it an awareness issue? Are people finding it difficult to stay informed about the status of their membership?
Is it a value issue? Will people only rejoin when they can see a value in it, like before a larp game? Will people not rejoin because they don’t see being a member as valuable in any way? What kind of value are members and potential members looking for?
Is it a desire issue? People don’t desire to be a member of nzLARPS? If we made being a member of nzLARPS desirable, as seperate from ‘valuable’, would we have more people rejoining? How would we go about making being part of nzLARPS desirable?
Or am I worrying about nothing and all will get around to rejoining soon?
Contemplatively awaiting the public’s constructive answers…
