Hey, I’m planning a scar across my face for an upcoming larp. Does anyone a good way to make fake scars? The scar is a few years old, so its not meant to look like a fresh cut.
When is it? Coz I’m doing a 2 day Wolfe Brothers workshop at the beginning of October, so after that I will probably be awesome at stuff like that.
To raise them up, paint on latex is probably what they use. Old scars are basically a pale skin color, cream rather than white, sometimes mottled with a bit of a purple color. stitch marks would be small dots in the same combo around. I’m assuming we’re not talking plastic surgeon type repair work here
First weekend of october most likely. but I’m after a way to do it now cause I need a photo of me in full costume. I found some scar wax I can use to make it, but I was wondering if there’s anyway to do it so it looks good just using makeup
I’d experiment with it. I’m guessing if there’s stuff actually called Scar Wax, then it’s gonna give you a better result than almost anything else
PVA glue can look quite good
I used to get bored at school and make scars/wounds with watercolour pencils that were pretty convincing. Fun times!
I’ve seen the scar wax stuff, and it’s good. Subtle though, and I’m not sure what pigments can be used with it.
In Mordavia:Endgame Carl had colodian(?) as scars on his face, and they looked good. I think it’s available at pharmacies.

You can probably find it cheaper by searching a little longer than the 30 seconds I took, but it works amazingly well - you draw the “pattern” of the scar you want, and it shrinks as it dries forming that horrible-looking recessed scar look. It can be mixed with pigments very similarly like latex, but the people I’ve been talking to about it don’t bother as the skin underneath goes slightly rosey anyway.

here you go, half the price - but I’m sure you can find it in NZ, start with the costume and makeup places
