I should get some more myself; I’m thinking of doing a faux-brigandine (riveted suede, with either plastic plates or just small spacers so the rivets don’t pull through) for Teonn.
Cheers

Depends on what you’re making. You can find a lot of thin stuff (1 - 2mm) on TradeMe; it tends to be upholstery offcuts, and is useful for wrapping weapon hilts, and making belt pouches, splinted bracers, or woven armour. You can pick up a 6 square foot chunk pretty easily for $20, or much cheaper if you prowl a lot.
If you want thicker stuff for armour, or vege tanned for shaping, then you’d need to go to somewhere like lapco. I haven’t tried that stuff yet; Scott can probably give some advice.
I get leather hides on trademe mostly.
Also, lots of emporiums have leather offcuts (Geoffs, Ikes etc.)
Lapco are actually based in Auckland now. Their showroom address is 5 Akiraho Street, Mount Eden. It’s a bit tucked away and you actually get in via the back of the building.
They mainly sell whole hides, but they also do decent sized offcuts. They also have most of the rivets and hardware etc from their website in the store as well as books on leather tooling etc.
