Rides to and from Chimera

Along the same sorta lines, I’d also be happy to pick people up from the airport if need be, have organised Fri off work altogether. It’s not near me but if you don’t mind chipping in $5-$10 for petrol it’s still cheaper than a taxi and I’d be happy to drop you back after too.

I’m arriving by coach on Friday, probably some time around lunch- I don’t suppose there’s any chance of getting picked up from wherever the bus gets into, is there? smiles hopefully The sooner I can get to the camp, the more helpful I can be!

That’s all gravy, PM me when and where to pick you up from, I have a corolla stationwagon so figure I can fit 2 maybe 3 more people plus gear with me (could push it up to 4 if we strap stuff to the roof guards). But I don’t mind making more than 1 trip if it helps people out.

Two of us are going to be arriving at the airport around 5 on the friday. We’d really appreciate a lift! Petrol money to be paid, of course.

Damn, our mob gets in an hour earlier than you, so will likely be long gone.

Anyone needing pick-ups from airport/bus stop PM me and I’ll sort something out  I’ll do 2 or 3 trips
Also coming from Albany so if you need a lift from near there as well let me know

Ummm … you realise that, being Auckland and on a Friday evening, traffic is going to be utterly awful on all motorways, in all directions (except perhaps citybound on the Northern and Northwestern, and maybe airport-bound-from-north on the Southwestern), from about 4:00 pm until 6:30 or 7 … multiple trips may not work out as well as you think …

Not that I’m trying to discourage your helpfulness, just making sure you have thought through the practicalities that might limit your ability to carry out your transportation plans.

Yes had thought of this, was going to do a pickup about lunch time and then head back there just before 4ish if need be. Traffic will be crap coming back, but I’m a newbie and figure I can pick peoples brains in the car on the way  .

Cunning scheme …

pin a tail on it and call it a weasel

Has anyone got room to drop 2 (possibly 3) people off in Avondale after Chimera? Petrol money and enthusiastic reminiscing about how awesome the weekend was will be available  Also possibly gratuitous amounts of caffeiney and sugary beverages.

Sure, I drive through that surburb on my way home. See me at Chimera to confirm.

Great, thanks!

I’ve split the discussion about rides off from the discussion of crash space. If people who need rides could start getting this sorted now, instead of next Thursday, it’ll be much less stress for everyone

I’m one of the wellingtonians who will be on the flight arriving around 4pm as well. So far as getting to and from Chimera goes, has there already been something organised between others going on this flight? I’m not (yet) a member of NZLARPS, so I haven’t been privy to any emails detailing travel plans between the airport and the camp.

If you can’t get a lift, I am picking some people up from the 5.20pm flight so will be getting there a bit earlier to avoid some traffic, will have room for you too if you need it, pm me and let me know

I don’t think we’ve planned it yet, but last year we just got a shuttle bus from the airport to Motu Moana, and made a booking for one to take us back on Sunday.

That’s what I was hoping for, but I don’t know whose going and whether I would recognise any of them as the only larp I’ve ever attended was Fleet Street in Wellington. Thus I am a little worried I might accidentally miss you other Wellington larpers going.

Perhaps you can hold a sign saying “Idiot” at the airport.

You could just get everyone to wander around the arrival area in full costume, it won’t take long before you spot each other.

On a more serious note, having a “NZ LARP Society” sign in the arrival area is probably not a bad idea. Although there’s a very nice foodcourt now in the Auckland Domestic Terminal which can make for a good meetup point, with the added bonus of food!
