Rhys Darby: Away Larping

I reckon its a gag on “away laughing”. His sense of humour can loop a long way out before coming back to a punchline.

That was my first thought, except the rest of the tweet seemed relevant to actual larping. However, if he’s a rather longwinded and obscure comic, then I’m with you. It’s an extended play on words.

But it would still mean he knows of larping…

Well, we were on a local current events show not that long ago.

and it was called “having a larp” maybe its just a twist on laughing like that was…

I love larpers
Someone: "Look! someone said larp and they don’t larp!"
Everyone else: "Ooooohhhh, lets analyse what it may mean."
Love it

“ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!”

you can apply that to pretty much any niche hobby.

Ah, I loved that bit. “If Lwaxana Troi is not in my arms in ten seconds, throw everything you’ve got at them.” lol!

But only when one face palm is not enough hmmmm?

I already use ‘larp’ as a verb.
I larp
You larp
He/she/it larps
We larp
They larp

Larpology: the study of larp…

The question is: Is Rhys Darby’s usage of the word Larp in the phrase “I’m away larping…” the same usage as we use it (verb as above)?

maybe it stands for something else…hmmm…looking at red paintings? laughing at racist potatoes?
