Hi there,

Anna and I are working on trying to get get a one-off showing of “Repo! The Genetic Opera” in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Whee!

We’re looking for a theatre in each city who’d be willing to screen a one-off public showing where we’d encourage audience members to dress up and participate (a la Rocky Horror). To aid us in our cause we’ve just started a Facebook group.

Have you seen the Hollywood Cinema in Avondale, Auckland? It’s pretty epicly old school.

They do private functions and stuff as well, so it could also make an excellent venue for a LARP … “A night at the Cinema, filled with Murder, Intrigue, and Ice Cream!”

Oh, and they have an enormous Wurlitzer organ-of-doom.

The fanbase for this very strange but amazing film has been growing over the last few weeks in the gaming community, largely via Facebook, and the prolific loaning of DVDs. If you haven’t yet seen it, it’s a Victorian-gothic-post-apocalyptic rock-opera, with a plot like Sweeney Todd meets Rocky Horror with a dash of Phantom of the Opera.

This movie would be an absolute blast to see on the big screen with a large group of people, so join the group to help us get our numbers to convince the cinemas that this is worth it!

I took a lok at the website last night, and had acquired and watched it before the evening was over. It’s amazing!!!
Graverobber has to be my favourite character - that voice!

Great news for Wellington!

I’ve contacted the Paramount theatre and they’re keen!! They’re assuming we want a late-night thingy (I’ve said yes) and we’re starting the process to get the film distributed down here now.

How exciting eh? Stay tuned for more. Once we have an idea of how long it’ll take to get the film we’ll begin sorting out a date.

Yussssss.

(And yeah, I totally think I’m dressing up as Graverobber…)
