Repair tips?

I picked up some horn cups or tumblers at the Sparticus auction last week- a section of hollow horn with a flat bit of horn glued to the bottom to seal it all, only to find that two of them aren’t exactly watertight as the glue is failing on both of them. Does anyone have any tips on how to best repair them?

Epoxy resin a.k.a. Araldite.

On the not of the topic of the thread name and other similar questions posed to diatribe enthusiasts. I wonder if making a sticky thread with all the questions (simplified) and the answers pasted next to them in a clear continuous format. Similar to Ryan’s Useful websites about gear but with a bit more structure and organization. Such as:

Question: ---------------- Solution 1: (Either text copy pasted from a thread where the question is addressed)
----------------------------- Solution 2: (Or a link to the solution addressed on another site)

Question: ---------------- Solution 1: (and so on)
----------------------------- Solution 2: (and so on)

Naturally unless someone on here has no life, it isn’t going to be a complete list over night. But It would help with repeat offenders asking the same questions and answers that are useful from getting lost in the abyss of may threads.

As it gets built up we can Section it such as Clothing, Weapons, Small Jobs/Quick fixes(repairs) or whatever… etc. (How to-s and what to avoid-s, general info like that which people with questions or ideas can quickly skim through and find a solution to)

And also have a section of people who would be keen to help or answer questions directly : Name & Contact & Time of availability… etc

Doing this in one post or one per “Section” or “Topic” would also be good to prevent it becoming tediously long. So editing the same posts over and over (by whoever controls the sticky) would help keep the format organised.
Naturally people will want to give feedback, so posting in the thread would be okay. Their comment could be copy pasted and formatted into the main post and then the post can be removed (after confirmed that the idea is addressed).

This will probably take some time and take active help from people viewing the various gear threads. And it may be easier to link to an external google doc or other online database that might house the information better. but it will likely help and be a great reference for the larp community

Anyone else have an opinion or think my idea is totally boss? :stuck_out_tongue:

I think the new How to guides forum would be the ideal place to put articles with this kind of information.

Ah awesome, someone already had the idea

Yep, Hannah had the idea of publishing polished articles as forum posts in a dedicated forum. It developed from a group Mike Curtis started for publishing a guide for people wanting to run larps - instead we’re publishing articles on individual subjects that make up that big topic, as well as other topics like crafting and advise for players.

Anyone who’s interested in contributing (whether by writing articles or commenting and editing other people’s) can add themselves to the “How to guide writers” usergroup using your User Control Panel, which will give you access to the private forum where articles are formulated. All contributions welcome, and feel free to join just to have a look - you can always remove yourself from the group again. I’d love to see this gradually grow into a bigger resource with lots of articles.
