Registrations Open!

The Chimera 2009 website is online andregistrations are open for the event!

Please note that the website is still being updated daily with new game information and timetable updates while we finalise our game line up. Game selection is expected to be available in two or three weeks, or sooner, if we have our line up finalised before then.

If you have any questions, feel free to post on this board or to email us at chimera@nzlarps.org

Looking forward to seeing you there!

The website is up at chimera.nzlarps.org

You may need to refresh your browser if it still shows the 2008 site.

In the past 24 hours, we’ve received 14 registrations and 2 payments. Awesome!

Please note that Game Selection is not open. Please hold off making game and character choices until it is officially open, so that everyone can start on the same start line. Everyone will be informed of the opening of Game Selection simultaenously (email, Facebook, Diatribe, nzRAG, Interesting Times etc)

I’m loving the enthousiasm but we need to make sure we are as fair as possible in allocating game placings. I can already tell that there will be tooth-and-nail fights over some games!

Can’t waaaaaaaaaaait!
weeee, big excitement!
bounce-bounce-bounce
So is the drafty schedule for the games likely to stay like this? At the moment I’m personally very happy with it

Those that have registered - remember Chimera is a great way to show newbies what this is all about. Tell people you’re going and invite them along!

22 registrations have rolled in over the last week, and 7 payments. Thank you to everyone that’s registered, and an even bigger thanks to those that paid. Keep 'em coming, tell your friends, y’all know the drill

Game selection is expected to go live next week as well. I can already tell there are going to be vicious fights over some games!

I was told the availability of the games depends on payment, so is it that possibility to register for game/role depends on whether you paid or not? Like, if I wanna particular role and it is wanted by someone else as well, who sent request after me but has already paid for Chimera, then they would get the role?

Stay tuned…

Game selection is scheduled to go live sometime tomorrow, along with the cast list for The Great Exhibition. Watch this space!

The Great Exhibition Cast List
The cast list for the big Saturday night larp, The Great Exhibition is now online! Get in quick to get your character of choice: Cast List

If you are not certain which character you would like to play, the GMs are happy to make suggestions based on your preferences. Please check back in a few days and we will have posted the character questionnaire!

It all looks uber awesome. Am having some serious internal debate on if I should go or not, as I am seriously lacking in the costuming department, as I don’t want to look like a gimp in what looks like an interesting selection of games…

You should definitely come! There are quite a few games with modern or slack costuming requirements, and people are usually happy to help out and lend stuff. It’s amazing what you can do with the stuff in your wardrobe!

Technical Hitch

From about 7:30-9:30pm today (09/06/09) registration wasn’t working. If you tried to register and got a blank screen after pressing submit, your registration has not come through and it would be great if you could send it through again.

Apologies about the error. I should never be allowed into the website back end again.

Main thing I’d possibly need to get is a suit jacket or something similar as it seems that 90% of the games require a suit or something similar…

Op shops are your friend  But seriously, like NoRectangulars says, don’t let lack of costuming stop you, there’s heaps of games you can get into that don’t need much costuming. The most costume intensive one is the Great Exhibition but there’s heaps of variety there too!

In an overwhelming response, Chimera has now taken over 40 registrations and has had more than 35 people choose their games in the past 24 hours. Bad Dreams, But Nobody Loses An Eye and Down and Out In Middenburg are completely full, while The Black Hart of Camelot and The Final Voyage of the Mary Celeste have only a few male characters left each to fill. The Great Exhibition has cast more than half its characters in the first day.

You’re going to want to get in quick

For guys who are registering for Camelot, I suggest that you give three character preferences, and choose them from this list:

Gawaine
Leodegrance
Mordred
Pelles
Tristan
Palamedes

Alternatively, indicate what kind of character you’d like to play - likely to get into combat, pleasant/unpleasant/mixed, leadership role, etc.

There is only space for three more male players, but a lot of guys who have registered have not given any character preferences so there’s plenty of room for arranging character selections.

If you’re a guy who has already selected Camelot but haven’t given character preferences, feel free to email them to ryanpaddy2@gmail.com

i dunno if this is helpful or not but maybe the GMs could consider changing the gender of characters to get more people playing, if it doesn’t affect the plot line, or players can do some badass cross dressing?

Bad ass cross dressing? That would be interesting to see.

Dude, your signature is killing me. One of us will have to go.
