Raids at dusk - capture the flag based larp

Here is the first rule book

I would love to hear your feed back, comments etc I would really like to get this game going.

Thanks Dan

Version 1.1b now up

History
1.0 - Rule Book made availible March 2012
1.1 - fixed dragon to melee
- made disarm work on ranged
- made melee/ranged differences clearer
1.1b- made golem easier to understand
- italicied when abilities turn up in description
- added more desriptions
1.2 Added different possible game types
-capture the flag
-Team deathmatch
-elimination
-capture and hold (larp equivalent of dota)
-Last man standing
-king of the hill

Does dragon born apply to all damage? - ranged + mele

Fixed some stuff now on version 1.1

*disarm can now disable guns/bows etc
*Dragon born specifies only increase to damage in melee
*Some rules made clearer if they are ranged or melee

Sorry should read close combat attacks which is melee.
Melee damage gets better bonuses to damage while ranged gets the advantage of distance + blinding beam.
Merciless slinging gives you more ranged damage though
Thanks for noticing

I do like these idea’s alot! Definatly look forward to trying them out

May I suggest:
To compliment Blinding beam (like gorgon)

5xp Star Child: All ranged attacks gain Blinding Beam

To compliment stone golem (breeding? )
2xp Feat: Stone shield - one use per life - you may ignore one attack and all its effects. - Must be walking at time of use.

Originally I had considered this as I liked the idea of people playing with characteristics. However as the stun is automatic and last 5 seconds I can see people abusing this by taking stun with dual pistols for a unstoppable stun lock. Thats why I made blinding beam a feat (maximum 5 times per life currently) rather than an item.

Also the other charcters are all strong but have drawbacks,

Posion even at range gives the opponent time to run at you and chop you good,
Dragon only boosts melee so with slow and stun you can (hopefully) outrange,
Golem only when stationary, which makes a nice fireing platform given a shield but struggles to capture/chase down.
Vampire can receive killing blow before his 15 seonds are up.
Slow only effects you movement speed not your combat or ranged attack speed
Healing is much slower than dealing damage so you have to be out of combat to really benefit (or be amazing at parrying/matrix dodging bullets)

I can’t see stun lock having any disadvantage other than “may run out of ammo before target is killed”

The only way to balance it would be to make the call limited to 1 every X seconds but this gets messy and hard to remember

Its an item called gargoyle skin. Orginally the stone golem was a defender called stone gargoyle designed to hold the camp. It was changed when I remembered how cool the stone golem costume was.
I could call it stone shield, but I don’t want people to relate it to the idea of actually having a shield and turning it to stone.

Sweet

So it sounds like people are keen to play, does anyone know how I can get this from a random post in the discussionpage to the hosted boards page?

I think - but not sure - you have to pester ze diatribe admin  I don’t think there is any legalize (like affiliation) but don’t quote me

If you’d like a forum under Hosted Boards then send a PM to DiatribeAdmin letting us know the name, description, and who the moderators should be.

It sounds kind of like a battle game. Is the idea for people to roleplay or treat it as a combat sport?

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, and you can always treat it as practice for the rp-oriented events.

Absolutely not, just asking to clarify.

Its probably going to be mainly a combat sport, as the fast paced action of the game will make roleplaying difficult, but will serve as very good training for combat based larps as the style is very similar to that of the larps I play.

Plus could be a good way to train up new players before the next teonn. I would love to see my fellow crew tearing up the players with the skills they learn from Raids at dusk XD

Included 5 new game types including more bash 'em ups so the rules can be used by more people at more events for other training exercises etc

Yay we now have our own forum
