Question for ladies (guys, stay away, it's not for you)

Do you use make-up for your larp characters? If yes - what particular things, and how do you manage them?

I used red lipstick in Ravenholme and Nightmare Circle, and even though managed to almost not leave its marks everywhere (well, except for my white gloves, alas :frowning: ), but I had to renew it often, like, after each food. Plus to constantly check in mirror that the lipstick is ok.

I’ve seen ladies in larps much more made-up than just this, so I’m wondering when and how you use it and how you cope with it 8) Especially talking about weekend games, as you probably need to bring the whole make-up set together with make-up remover, sponges, and so on.

I’m talking about general “make me beautiful” stuff, not about the larp face paintings;-)))

Guys, didn’t I say it’s not for you?

Yes, but if you say it in the title and in brackets I’m at least expecting a good laugh of it.

Right, for larp makeup on weekends i recommend picking up lip stick, a clear coat that seals on your lipsticks colour, i love it :stuck_out_tongue: Also, you will need to reapply and makeup you do at larps, but powders are easier to manage. Use creams and you are wiping it off your pillow when you forget you are wearing it at 3am :stuck_out_tongue: Also going for a natural look means if you are too tired or dragged out in a hurry then it isnt too obvious, though lipstick alone isnt too troublesome. After all, being chased at 3 am does take its toll :stuck_out_tongue:

and who says guys arent allowed to wear makeup?

Remind me of a larp where you have been wearing it, honey?
P.S. Still looking for the pictures you asked about, big mess with my CDs, but when I get them we can play around them 8)

Mordavia: Sanctuary. There’s even a photo of it, but I’m at work, and I can’t access Adam’s site from here. I’ll link you tonight.

As long as you don’t outside of larp and similar theatricals. Unless it’s really funny and I can take pictures. And you can’t use any of mine, cos that stuff’s expensive!

As far as makeup in larp goes - a really good lipstick should stay on well, and not come off easily (under normal circumstances). If yours rubs off, a clear coat is probably a good idea (plus it can add a little gloss to your lips). You have to remember lipstick etiquette though - gotta be careful around your lips, especially when eating (and try not to go passionately kissing anyone - lipstick is not a food, although it won’t kill you if you swallow it).
I try to avoid full face makeup at larps, cos it’s a bitch to get on and off and unless you feel you have bad skin there’s probably no need. You don’t want to miss out on some exciting goblin chase or witchhunter attack cos you were in the bathroom. Other than that, just some eyepencil and mascara. It’s never a good idea to leave makeup on overnight, but at a larp sometimes you just want to crash - just make sure you at least took off your lipstick!
Also, I’ve discovered that with red lipstick your teeth always look nice and white.

Lipstick and eyeliner are all the makeup I can be bothered with for a larp, unless there’s a special effect I’m trying to achieve.

I never did any eyes makeup, but just because was too lazy to do it.
But that would look cool.
Also, can do the eyebrows as well…

Use waterproof and longlast makeup items… I have a long last foundation I like to use, just a supermarket one by Maybelline. Does the job and doesn’t cost so much I’m worried about losing it! Even a full face takes me about 10 minutes (face painting aside!) so I don’t stress much about missing any of the action. I use makeup remover wipes so that’s pretty easy. My biggest issue is mascara, damn stuff is bloody hard to remove, so I tend to avoid that. Get bad enough panda eyes from the lack of sleep, without having mascara leftovers all down my face!

Wow, that pic is bordering on the disturbingly feminine. I’m just going to pretend it’s undead makeup…

lol, he was a vapmire and most of the makeup he was wearing is gone anyway.
