Publicity stunts. Hurrah!

Grey Lynn Festival anyone?
I know I suggested it at the meeting but I would like ideas and such.
Turning up in costumes and handing out leaflets? I could organise leaflets if there are people that are keen.

Gimme some feed back.

Cool

Lucy

LARPS leaflets would be good if there’s time to make some. There’re also Mordavia rulebooks that look extremely nice that we could maybe hand out.

So… Saturday 26th of November from 9.00am – 5.30pm.

I can have a bunch of Mordavia rulebooks ready for that.

Maybe combine that with a flyer advertising LARPS? Would be good to have a website (even a minimal one) up before that though, or people will have nowhere to look to see something solid.

Rhiannon will have flyers for NZLARPS on the day.

I can only stay for a couple of hours but i wil be there in the morning. And I might drag along Nico by his ear.

I have to figure out how to get there from Helensville on a Saturday, and whether I can go to the Battle Day…

Will definitely be there, with membership forms and some kind of LARPS flyer.

I made a flyer so that people can rip it apart and have some input on what it says. At the moment its just basic not very exciting text on it, but we can at least change it to stuff we like.

The flyer

Sounds good. Do you want to print/copy/run off a large amount of those? Say a hundred or so? Keep the receipt and you can probably get it claimed back from the Treasurer.

Hmm… bloody “NZ”, it’s attached itself everywhere and looks like crud.

Would like to see other versions of that text. But if we’re going to do the traditional “default to someone’s draft concept” that usually happens, here’s an improved version of that draft. Typos and some facts corrected, and some stylistic changes. Craig… maybe you could give it that relaxed feel like the newsletters have.

I like the layout. The small character’s hand at the top is cut off, looks a little odd.

What is LARP?
LARP stands for Live Action Role Playing. Players in a LARP act out a character, improvising their words and actions in a fictional setting.

What kind of LARPs are there?
There are heaps of styles, and new games are always being invented. The largest LARP in Auckland is a dark fairytale called Mordavia. There are horror games set in 1920s USA, beat-em-up fantasy games and political games. Upcoming LARPs include a sci-fi adventure, a Greek epic, and a caveman comedy. If you can imagine it, you can LARP it.

Sounds great! How do I get involved?
Just head over to www.diatribe.co.nz and find out about the New Zealand LARP scene. You can also join the Live Action Role Playing Society there. Members get discounts, and help with running LARP events.

Well you should HOPE they’d reimburse you.

I don’t think this is up to Ian though - it should be Lucy!

Thanks Ian,
I like the way it emphasises the acting + fun and not the hitting of people with foam weapons.
It great to see people chipping in and helping NZLARPS.

Of course there will be reimbursement, through it should be OKéd through the person in charge before (In this case Rhiannon or Craig as they are actioned through the last meeting to the do the flyers’ or the tresurer, to make sure there are no expenses done by someone under the assumption ‘I’m sure the Society will pay for this,’.

have a look at the origonal Craigs done and you’ll see that that didn’t have a hand either. I’m using a different vector to him (I just did my own off the source image) so I’ll just wack on some kind of hand to that. I’ll change the text up too. I know there are some errors in the text, I never ment for this to be the print edition, I wanted people to have a say in it first.

The flyer again, with changes

I would just like to warn everybody here and now - but dont worry, you will be reminded - I am not very good with money/business. I really need someone to hold my hand during the process of organising things so when someone says

I freak out.

C’mon, it’s printing/photocopying. Someone somewhere will be able to do it for cheap/free.

I could be wrong, but I think Warehouse Stationery does photocopying for 7c an A4 page. So for 100 A4 sheets, it’ll be $7…

It’s Thursday now and this event is on Saturday. Time is running out and I’m terribly confused. I think it’s time we started talking about this in terms of definite details.

We need a meeting point/time. I’d like to suggest taking Mike’s suggestion over on the Mordavia board and meeting at the Williamson Ave entrance at around 10:30am

Could everyone who intends to come post here, along with what costume they’re wearing and anything you can do to help out, just so we’re not in the dark about numbers/costume/help

Lastly, is there anyone who wants to take responsibility for the fliers? The flier looks like it could work well as an A5, so 100 A4 sheets will give us 200 fliers to hand out…

This is a cross-post from Mordavia. Do you need LARPS gear for this event ? If so, contact me with your plan for obtaining / returning the gear.

Cheers,

Mike

It can work as A5 or A4. at the moment its set to be borderless A5, which means whoever prints the origonal will need to know a little wee bit about printing. Basically just need to resize. I can send the photoshop origonal which is full vector so it can be resized in PS without losing quality.

I have printed the flyers, but not very well. I’ve done them straight from the web JPG, and it’s lost a bit on the way. Such is the cost of disorganisation.

They’ll need to be cut in half, I’ll try and get that done tonight…

Those involved should also bring pens and clipboards for writing things on the back for people. And paper for taking new member details.

See you at 10:30 then!
