I’ve got some 0.8mm stainless steel sitting around and it’s too light for real armour, but it’d be fine for costume/larp armour. So, I’ve started a set of leg armour in 0.8mm stainless. They will be similar, but not quite as flash as the ones I’ve made for myself:
I’m planning to finish them at Sanctury (when I play an armourer). There is a reasonable amount of work in them and I’m after $150.00 unstrapped (i.e. all the metalwork will be finished and they’ll just require strapping). I’ll provide all the rivets, buckles and leather required to strap them and explain how to finish them. Strapping normally takes another hour or two for most people and it’s usually not economic to pay me to do it, because it’s dead easy and I’m skilled labour
Anyway, if you’re interested, bring some money to Sanctury and have a look at them. I’m also happy to consider trade. So, if you can sew well, I’m always after medieval clothing and would happily exchange these for a well made medieval garment.
If you’re after Very Heavy Armour (Full Plate) this will be an excellent starting point for you!
Note: 0.8mm stainless is too light for NAAMA or SCA type combat. It’ll be fine for LARP combat or just costume armour. They also weigh stuff all. They’re my size and I should fit people from 5’4" to 5’8.
