I’ve been cutting up bits of paper and holding them up to different sized people to work out what the best size patches to make for our incoming cover-all multi-project jumpsuits will be. My feeling at this time is to make them at a size of 7.5cm X 22.5cm for all positions (top arms, left chest, right leg, back center).
Shapely
The shape 7.6cm X 22.5cm is three squares side-by-side. I find this shape pleasing. I encourage everyone to grab a ruler, draw 7.5*22.5 on a piece of A4 and be pleased.
Cheap
At this size, we can print two different stencils on one piece of A4 transparency paper on the nzlarps badmofo laser printer, meaning we can be extra cheap.
Not too big not too small
This should be readable from a distance without being over the top huge. The big fear is that (since the coverall suits will need to be quite big) they will get lost in the folds and emphasise that the jumpsuits are generally pretty big. Don’t know what to do about that, because smaller ones will behave the same.
