Paddywhack October order

Next Paddywhack order on 31 October (1 week away)

I’m putting an order in with Epic Armoury on 31 October, about one week from now. If you’d like something from their catalogue before the Teonn weekend game, this is your last chance.

New website coming

Sorry about the late notice for this order. The reason is that I’ve been trying to get a new version of my website live with all the Epic Armoury products included, but there are so many products that it’s a mammoth task. The new website will allow everyone to view nice clear images of the products without needing the print catalogue, and show off some products that aren’t in the catalogue.

Pricing for the October order

The other reason I was hoping to get the new website up before this order is that I’m making a slight price increase for this order, and that would be easier to get communicate via a website with NZD prices for each item (rather than using multipliers). I’m making this price increase partly because Epic have made price changes, but also I’m finding that my expenses are slightly higher than what I expected them to be.

Since I don’t have the website ready in time, for this October order please use the following multipliers to convert the prices in Euro in the catalogue to NZ prices:

General retail price: multiply by 1.72
NZLARPS members price: multiply by 1.38

Note that as before, I won’t be applying the NZLARPS discount to steel items (i.e. all the metal armour apart from the aluminum chain).

If I’ve already quoted you personally for an order, I’ll be honouring the price I gave.

How to make an order

The best way to make an order is to email me at ryanpaddywhack@gmail.com with a list of items you’d like. Please make orders by Wednesday next week.

If you don’t have a print copy of the Epic Armoury catalogue on hand to order from, please post here and someone should be able to lend you one. Alternatively you can download it from this link, just note that it’s 84MB in size: epicarmoury.com/catalogue/EE_Cat … web_HD.pdf

My preference is for payment by October 31st (because I have to pay for the order as soon as I make it), but other arrangements can also be made by agreement.

Cheers,

Ryan

Awesome, thanks Ryan! I’m keen to get in on an order this time round. I’ll figure out what I want this weekend and be in touch to hammer out the details

Hi Ryan,

Do you have any guidelines on sizing for gloves, either the Palnatoke or Epic Armoury ones? I’m thinking of getting some, but I’m really not sure what the right size for my hands is.

Epic Armoury have updated their sizing guide to include glove sizes:

epicarmoury.com/downloads/sizeguide.pdf

I think by “hand circumference” they mean the circumference sideways around the hand, including around the thumb. When I measure that on me it comes out to around 23cm, which puts me in the Medium size.

I have a pair of brown medium gloves from Epic Armoury you’re welcome to try on for size, but I don’t know if that’ll be convenient before Wed. I suggest do the measurement and order based off that, and I’ll swap it for another size if it doesn’t fit.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the last day to order if you’d like something from Epic Armoury before Teonn.

With Kiwibank online banking I can see four payments that people have made today.

Finally personal banking has caught up with the speed of the internet!

Today’s the last day to order if you want things from Epic Armoury by Teonn.

It’s not too late to order, so long as you can pay today.

Send orders to ryanpaddywhack@gmail.com

The gear from Epic Armoury and Palnatoke has arrived.

I’m thinking of going to Sunday combat practice and dropping things off to people. I’ll also be at Teonn on Saturday morning and can pass gear on then.

If you’ve got items ordered with me and I haven’t already contacted you about delivery, let me know how you’d like to get them. I can also mail gear out.

Cheers,

Ryan

Great news Ryan!

Can you please ask everyone who gets your weapons to put some identifying mark on their weapons. With the increase in numbers of people and their weapons at games, it is becoming an issue to get the weapon back to the right owner if they become separated (unintentionally or unfortunately, via theft).

Suggested identifiers could be:
painting your initials, or character’s initials on the end of the hilt
tying particular colour ribbon or shoelace at the hilt, or along the handle/grip
using nail polish to create extra decorative highlights (or blood) (but don’t use nail polish remover)

Something that you can say “hey that’s my weapon” when you see someone else holding it

Has anyone tried using permanent marker on latex? I’ve always figured that would be a good way to identify them, but haven’t tried it.

Also, a note about safety.

I’ve noticed that some of the long weapons from Epic Armoury like two handed swords and staves/spears/big axes are quite heavy and solid. I believe they are built this way so they’re durable and not bendy.

In New Zealand we’ve developed a culture of hitting fairly hard with latex weapons. But internationally, that’s not necessarily standard. In the UK for example I think only a firm tap is considered appropriate in most games (that’s what they mean by “pulling your blows” there). So long as weapons are relatively light and soft we usually get away with our firmer hitting, although some sore moments and bruises do result.

However with these long, heavy, and relatively hard weapons we need to be more careful, and I’d recommend taking on the UK approach of attempting to firmly tap each other rather than striking harder.

Hey Ryan,

Are you coming to Teonn with a bunch of Buyables? If so, what kind?
Paddywhack will be at Teonn: Beginning of the End on Saturday morning with much more gear than usual.

Various weapons, shields, bags, belts, costume pieces, prosthetics, and all sorts of other stuff.

I’ve got boxes and boxes of this stuff to show off that I’ve been building up over the last few months, looking forward to it.
Over at the main Teonn thread. Bottom page 8
