I’m making this order today, so everyone let me know if you want something. Even if you won’t have the money to hand immediately, make an order via the website now and we can work something out. I trust the community and will extend credit where it’s needed.
I’d also be interested to hear which items people would like, but don’t want to pay for (or wait for) just now. I want to start building up my stock on hand, but it’s difficult to know which items to stock and stocking everything isn’t an option as the range of items is so diverse.
For example - how do people feel about the 86cm length swords versus the 104cm? I assumed that people would tend to go for the longer length, but so far I’ve actually had more orders for the 86cm swords. Why might that be?
Also, I’ve sold some Squire swords but I’ve been surprised that I haven’t sold more given how low the price is. Do the photos not appeal for some reason, or do people assume that because they’re so cheap they’re not as good? In person they are really nice.
That’s because my observations don’t seem to line up with yours… I don’t have the problem you’ve also described with the Warrior swords being slappy, and I found the Forgotten Dreams sword you found too light a really nice weight - I love really light swords because they’re unlikely to hit hard, and I’m not the best person at pulling my blows. In terms of the old Squire design (and the new one), I didn’t think they hit especially hard. I found that the Knight & Templer hit harder, because they’re heavier. I gave Nikki an unpleasant shot with my Templar once… although again, this might just be because I’m crap at pulling blows, and I probably shouldn’t blame the weapon. It’s also possible for blows to land in an unlucky way, that can happen even with good weapons and good fighting, like when a slash sometimes lands like a jab in the ribs or the armpit.
As I said it was only my 2c worth however my opinions tend to be based on experience and first hand observations. Yours will be different than mine, people will have different preferences, and that’s ok. That aside - what Jared said. From a technical point, based on how they handle and some extensive use, those old Squires were safe, but not necessarily the best in terms of design, and definitely not when compared to the others.
