Oh! To be in Auckland!

I see Teonn is going to run in November, and that Chimera is coming up in the next few weeks, along with (I’m sure) countless other games over time. If Air NZ did a $450 ten-trip domestic ticket to Auckland, I’d jump on it in a flash! It’d be great to saunter up to the airport with a bag and just get my ticket clipped as I walk onto the plane, and the same on returning. That’d be a sweet deal.

With all the information about Teonn up for reading here, it makes me long to be up there (although I wouldn’t want to live there). Thankfully, I’ll be going to Chimera and get to meet some more of the Auckland larping crowd!

For me, living in Wellington, it looks like all the biggest events happen up there in Auckland. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking down the larps that are held in Wellington, but the sheer number of larpers available in Auckland for such events is amazing and attractive. Hopefully, in the coming months and years, I can lure some of the Auckland crowd down here with some of the larps I hope to design, and perhaps inspire a few more Wellingtonians out of their shells to come larp with the rest of us!

Now all that’s left to do is find my teleporter I stashed in the garage and set up a two-way connection with Auckland for quick larp access ;D

If an ongoing campaign larp started up in Wellington, I know quite a few of us would totally go down for it.

Hmmm, I’ll have to see about making one then.

If you watch Grabaseat like a hawk, you might get lucky. That’s my plan anyway.

And I’d totally be up for playing a Wellington campaign. I’ve got gear now, and I want to use it…

Also watch Jetstar. They are way cheaper and have specials every Friday between 4pm and 8pm. I fly down to christchurch twice a year to see my dad for $58 return.

Some time over the next two years (probably 2012 - Gee wonder what the flagship LARP will be?) I hope to be organising an event, location TBA, that will attract large numbers of overseas Larpers…

Would like the event to have approx 500 people at it. 250 Locals, 250 imports.

The instant option, if you liked the look of Teonn and Nikki & Muppet were willing, would be to run a Wellington campaign in the Teonn setting. That removes the need to create rules and a setting before you start running. It could be set in some other part of the land, so characters could believably “travel” between the two campaigns if some players chose to travel between Auckland and Wellington to play. However, whoever runs it in Wellington would probably have to learn the secrets of the setting which might rule out playing a PC in Auckland.

Like wise there is Knightshade, about to be re-released which could be shared if there was suitable interest in Wellington (or anywhere to be honest). I’m happy to talk to potential GM’s who might wish to use our system, its fairly adaptable and there is benefit in having other centres using it in terms of player base and campaign cross over.

Admittedly, the only games I run are ones I create myself, although I like the sound of both ideas. I’d be keen to join in either such game if it were run by someone else in Wellington.

I would love it if there was a regular fantasy campaign with different games in different cities, and characters could move around. Just saying.

Same. Its a big challenge though. Needs lots of GM’s willing to work on the same page.

That’s understandable if you enjoy creating games or settings. There’s a lot of satisfaction to be had to seeing something you’ve designed flourish.

Absolutely ;D

As for the multi-town campaign game, that would be epic!

That would be epic indeed! I’d be able to get to Wgtn games much easier too (especially if they’re in the summer or conveniently situated on uni holidays - hint hint )

I’d love to see a campaign larp in wellington!! Id be very happy to help gm / crew a wgtn version of knightshade or something if there was suffcient interest in running it.
