A more useful topic header would have been helpful :stuck_out_tongue:

For those that have seen it already, this is the trailer for “Knights of Badassdom”

Viperion

Clear titles aren’t nearly as much fun as vague mysteries.

But wow what a cast.

What’s this? (Can’t watch it atm 'cause of data-cap)

its the trailer for knights of badassdom. a new movie about larpers.

It has Ryan Kwanten - From True Blood
Peter Dinklage - from Game of Thrones
Steve Zahn - from a bunch of stuff
Danny Pudi - From Community
Summer Glau - From firefly

basically looks neat

I only know the True Blood dude.

But it sounds like those are actors with geek-cred.

Jason Stackhouse and River Tam are in a movie about larping? :open_mouth:

Hot damn. I’ll be seeing this one in costume, with a foam sword in one and some spell packets for “Lightening bolt!” in another. They can’t laugh at us if we’re already taking the piss! Who’s with me?

Gosh. It looks a lot more watchable than Role Models, for sure.

Role models got me into LARP’ing… Its a good movie :stuck_out_tongue:

Rolemodels was interesting, because it only marginally mocked LARP, and other than your average weirdness you get with it, it actually put it in a rather good light =D.
Anyway, if this movie is going to be in the cinemas, you should just stand outside of it at the end of the movie, in full LARP gear, and hand out folders for this site or something =D.
Would be nice to create a greater interest in LARP, wouldn’t it?

Edit: Okay, watched the trailer… didn’t quite expect that =D, that could be interresting.
Role models got me into LARP’ing… Its a good movie :p
I thought it’s cringe factor was pretty high - not just the way they portrayed the larping, but all the character’s personal attributes and relationships. (It’s not my favourite kind of comedy.) Plus, I kept watching the larping scenes and thinking “But, but, but…where are their safety standards?!?

LOL, you may have the same problem with KOB. If they’re going to fight a man-munching succubus, they aren’t going to do well using foam swords… so I’m curious as to exactly when and how they ditch the foam for steel. (am i being too picky? )

Looks like good, cheesy fun. I am looking forward to it.

If you summon a succubus (Which doesn’t look all that attractive actually, with all that blood and the teeth that seem to come out of the mouth), and don’t die the first few hours.
Offcourse you go to the first store you can find that has swords, crossbows and other medieval weaponry! Or, you already have that kinda stuff… Looks at katana Yea… just a bit better than that =3. (It kinda falls apart when you hit things with it… trust me, I’ve tried >.>)

I bet it’s set up by having some dumbarse who has bought sharp weapons to the larp, and the heroes see that guy being barred from using the weapons early on. The gun on the wall in the first act will be fired in the third act, and all that.

This looks like the same take on larp as Role Models: a silly and geeky but fun hobby. Except this time it’s a Big Concept movie, where the old book that the wizard player buys at the start turns out the be a Real Spellbook™.

As opposed to the Mazes and Monster thing where one of the players goes nutso and believes they are their character, or the comic Dark Dungeons where roleplay is a cover for witchcraft, or The Wild Hunt where larpers just go feral for no apparent reason.

Given a choice of media depictions of larpers as silly, crazy, satanic or feral, I guess silly is the pick of the bunch.

Larpers and reenactors are so inter-mixed that half of larpers would own steel weapon, some will have live blades as well.
But that’s in real life, in movie they will probably add a special quest after special Blade of Unicorn or something similar

i think more important than the blunt steel that the re-enactors would have would be the good and more importantly effective armor lets see summer get through a fully armored re-enactor with full gamby ,maille, maille coif, shield, steel helmet etc and a bit of lammelar or plate to boot (depending on choice of period)

this is also true of the zombie apocalypse re-enactors in full good armor = impervious to bites ,unless there fully overwhelmed and physically held down, even then it’d take a while for em to get to the human treat inside so if the re-enactor isnt alone his mates should be able to save em before the zombies can bite em
