Og game scheduled!

http://www.nzlarps.org/ogpage/og.html

There is a LARP of the fun Caveman role-playing game scheduled for the first Sunday in March! See the link above for details.

Spaces limited, especially on the minibus, so please book in advance!

Game places: 1 paid, 5 unconfirmed
Minibus places: 3 booked
Gear hire: none reserved yet although some unconfirmed

Chantal is able to create a simple Og fur costume, designed to be worn over a bathing costume (unless you want to let it all hang out…). She will confirm prices, but initial thoughts are about $25. With this, a coconut for a helmet, and a foam club, you should be ready to go!

Remember that your armour points in the game are awarded according to your costume type and style.

Some (short) clubs and costumes will be available to hire from NZLARPS for $5 each. If you’d rather hire gear, then please contact me on steve@steveshipway.org as soon as possible to reserve one.

Also - if you have any (old) stuffed animals that we can (ab)use, please bring them along! We might even buy them off you if you only want a dollar or two. They will be useful for the game…

Finally - BOOK EARLY! Especially if you want a place on the minibus. We need to plan according to numbers, and if you’re too late then we may not be able to give you a place.

The link to the venue map is broken. Try here instead:

Am booking a place on the minibus  I’ll probably aslo want to hire costume and gear though I may be able to make my own club. In fact have now paid, for game and minibus both, with NZLARPS discount. (sent fast-checque)

The minibus will be confirmed once I get enough bookings. If not enough by mid-feb it will be cancelled.

So far, 3 places are taken, from 10. (As at 10/1/6)

There will probably only be about 4 costumes for hire, although there could be 10 clubs. If you want to hire, give me a definite ASAP so that I can work out how many we can afford to make.

Hi Steve,

I’d love to come, but it’s like a week after classes start again and there’s no way I’d be able to get up to Auckland for it. I hope it goes well and has a sequel, though.

Steph

i will def. come to this one. hopefully get some friends along too.

I’m still up for Og. I hope that you’ve found a deserted area of the beach to play in. Are there caves?

Every time I have been to north Piha (so far) it has been deserted - and that includes a visit in midsummer. There are several caves there, which I plan to use for the game, of course. Let me know if you want to book a minibus seat.

Thanks, but hopefully I’ll take my car out. It’s in my direction.

I will be keen to go and try something new,

If you want the early discount then book soon! Also, if you want a seat on the minibus, since I have to book the bus early. All details are on the web page.
Finally, if you want to hire costume or gear, say ASAP so we can be sure of having enough. I can have a few extras created if I know early enough.

Brightly coloured bikinis and knee length togs seem a bit out of place, what about the atmosphere,??

ps Julianne and I are planning on attending.

We have clubs for hitting!

Hmm, maybe not brightly coloured? And why is it that in NZ guys wear these huge knee-length jobbies (that get wet, heavy, and fall off when you stand up) and not normal speedos like in the UK? Oh well.

All these people who say they’re coming but haven’t paid yet - please send me the money so I can stop worrying that noone will show up. And, if you’re going to want a minibus place, I need to know before 5th Feb else if I don’t get enough bookings I’ll not run the bus, I need to arrange it in advance.

I’ve just posted about this game on the America list, I hope that was ok.

Could people sign up and pay for this at the NZLarp stand at BattleCry? Or the AGM meeting on the 1st?

Yes and yes

Hi all,

It’s your friendly documenatrian here again- I am hoping to be a part of and film the OG game. I have spoken to Steve and he is happy for me to be there -probably with my camera in the corner and me involved in the game in some respect.
I realise this is a bit different to me filming “behind the scenes” but it would be great to have some real game footage in the doco.
Please get back to me about whether you would feel uncomfortable with me documenting the game or have any other ideas/queries/concerns…

Hrm, I don’t think this is a good one to have cameras around. It’ll really feel like an audience, and to an audience, we’ll probably look like complete retards. There’ll be line-fumbling and near-nakedness built in… while interaction with the public is inevitable I would prefer the beach camera free.
