Reports from Officers
Regional Director:
NZLARPS Wellington has had a very good year. The hobby has continued to gain popularity, so we’ve had new people coming along to games. Hydra, which will be an NZLARPS affiliate next year, was a great success, the committee has worked well together, and we’ve started to achieve some of the things we aspire to- such as holding workshops, having campaigns run here (33AR and Kingdom), and continuing to build relationships with local businesses and venues. We aim to build on this good year in the next one, supporting Hydra, having more workshops, and still having something going on each month.
Treasurer-
Below is the financial summary for Wellington for the last year. The net movement for the region was $1544.97. Buoyed by games turning small profits (2-300) and the large donation of cash from the inaugural LARP convention Hydra.

Gear Officer
The Gear library has been growing a lot over last year with gear from Kapcon, Hydra and smaller LARPs have all been going into NZLARPS library. Bryn, Ellen, Malcolm and Scott- have all helped grow the library by actively looking in Op Shops for gear and donating it to the library. Malcolm has made weapons and shields for NZLARPS use. Thanks to those donating goods or their time for free. We now have at least half a garage worth of gear e.g. 3 parachutes, 8 pavilions etc (need to be labelled).
Scott said members should think about the gear library, and make use of it for games- they only have to ask. He has started to compile a database as well as putting photos on the web of gear in the library. The committee has plans for a Gear Day tidy-up in summer- members will be invited to come and look at what needs to be repaired/replaced, do so, clean the gear, and organise it so it is easier to sort through. It was expressed that NZLARPS could potentially have 2 people with gear responsibilities on the committee. The Regional committee has plans in place for making the gear library more manageable: Scott’s suggestion was that if you are a GM looking to borrow gear, you should anticipate making yourself available to sort the gear ready to go, and you will be responsible for making sure it’s back in the right boxes at the end. In future the committee will expect GMs to take responsibility for keeping the gear in good condition and returning it in the state and the boxes in which it was originally lent.
Plans for extra money in the regional account- the committee has invested in: speaker system for events, another parachute for Kapcon, lab coats and some other props for 33AR. We are planning to buy a set of teacups, a set of plastic wineglasses, and some other items which would see regular use so we don’t have to hire them. Members present at the meeting also suggested: a Coffee plunger, teapot, teacups, big platters (foodsafe) of some kind, more lighting, a smoke machine, fairy lights, and a greater range of weapons.
Scott is stepping down but will support the new Gear Officer in their role.
Those present extended their huge thanks to Scott for the enormous amount of hard work he has put into sorting, sourcing and taking care of the library as Gear Officer for the past 3 years.
Marketing Officer
I’d like to thank everyone in our extended community for their support this year. Particularly game organisers and members of the committee for their work so that we have games to promote.
We’ve run a huge number of games this year including two weekend long larp events, 33AR and Hydra, both which have been huge successes.
I’d like to thank the ever growing number of players, they do the most to market games through word of mouth and the positive feedback on forums, Facebook and verbally with friends.
I don’t feel that I’ve done a fantastic job at marketing nzLarps Wellington this year. I’ve spent a lot of my time producing promotional materials rather than promoting the society, so I’d like to give someone else a chance at that and move over to general officer but basically use my skills in design to produce materials for the society. Working with game organisers and the new marketing officer.
