nzLARPS Newsletter April 2011

Hey guys,

The nzLARPS newsletter, April 2011 Edition is out now! Click here to view it.

In this month’s issue we give you the low-down on what LARP events are coming soon to a city near you, as well as a question and answer session with Dreams in the Witch House Games Master, Matt “Tigger” Brunton.

You’ll need Acrobat Reader to view the newsletter. If you don’t have it, you can download Acrobat Reader here.

Enjoy!

Thanks, dude.

Also, if anyone would like to sign up for the nzLARPS newsletter and have it delivered to their inbox monthly, you can do so here.

Where are the adverts for our affiliates…

To my knowledge we’ve never put affiliate ads in our previous newsletters? I could raise this issue with the nzLARPS National committee if you’d like?

I was under the impression that we have several affiliates who provide nzlarps members with discounts to their products in exchange for advertising in media we produce.

Cool. The LARP events shown at the end, are they all the ones you know of? Or only the major ones?

They are all the ones that I am aware of. The list of upcoming events is compiled from nzLARPS.org, announcements on Diatribe and information for Wellington events from Bryn Jones. If you know of anything else that we’ve missed and should be included, please let me know by emailing marketing@nzlarps.org.

Ah, nope, I’ve only recently immigrated here to New Zealand from the Netherlands =D.
Is there a specific larp in Waikato or above it (Hamilton/Auckland?) that has some good RP’s any time soon for complete newbies to LARP? I’d love to play, but never quite was able to find an event to join into =(.

Theres a White Wolf Hunters game in Hamilton, but I have no idea on its current status.

As Bliar said, there is a WOD Hunters game in Hamilton. Jono Kim is running it and it is running last I heard. But its not live combat.

As to anything else, well there is my occasional larp combat practice with aspirations to run events again in the not too distant future. And theres a good few teens aged 16-18 looking to run events too, though they are at an infancy at this stage.

Not entirely sure this is the right place/you want to know, but I’m running a fortnightly V:tR LARP in Dunedin for the forseeable future; Los Angeles by Night

NZLARPS is always keen to promote larp groups and events in NZ, regardless of where you’re running or whether you’re affiliated with the society.

I’ll add Los Angeles by Night to the list of regular events on the homepage of the NZLARPS website. Would you prefer the link to go to the blog or the forum?

Would also be cool to add your chronicle to the larp guide page, which is in need of updating and doesn’t have much in Dunedin. Do you have any photos you’d like in your entry? Michael might also come at you for photos for the newsletter.

I signed up and paid me dues (mostly to get a discount from Paddywhack  ) but haven’t received any confirmation email or anything. I may well be the only NZLarps member in town, unless Daphne is.

(real name is Matt, btw  )

I can see your registration for membership in the NZLARPS database, not sure why you haven’t received a confirmation from the secretary.

Note that being personally a member of the society and having your group be affiliated are two different things. Affiliation is a loose arrangement of what a certain Australian ex-PM might have called “matehood”. But like I said, the society generally promotes larps regardless.

If you wanna write a short blurb that’d be great.

I’ve added Los Angeles by Night as a fortnightly event on the NZLARPS homepage with a link to forum. Nice to have a regular Dunedin game on there.

Are the other regular events on the site all still active?

Mthly 1st Sat - Requiem AKL
Mthly 2nd Sat - One World By Night AKL
Mthly 2nd Sat - Darkness Falls HLT
Mthly 3rd Sat - Nexus AKL
Mthly last Sat - New Horizons AKL

New Horizons is having its final game this month. I believe Requiem is also finishing up in the next month or two
