NZLARPS National Committee Reports 2025

Treasurer Report:

In financial year 2025, NZLARPS has made a net profit of $3,071.76. This is inflated due to not yet covering the costs related to web hosting. After this is catered for however, we are still likely to see some profit this year. This is up from a $2,013.01 loss in the previous financial year.

The increase in profit has been driven by an increase in project income and membership income. This managed to outpace the outgoings that we see in the cost of running events.

From an operational perspective, we did manage to get access to the bank accounts handed over early in the calendar year. There would be value in seeing how we can further improve this process.

For any keen beans, this year’s Balance Sheet and P&L are attached to review before today’s AGM.

President Report 2025

This year, an area of focus was definitely the new constitution. I think the consultation process was invaluable, and I’m happy with what was put together. Re-examining it in the next year or two to really ensure it is fit for purpose will be important, however.

Day to day administration of the society was a challenge, with a reduced committee for much of the year, and I’d encourage the committee of next year to continue looking at how to make sure that the hand over and administration are as smooth as possible, while still being affordable for the society, especially with the continuous rising cost of web hosting and accounting software. At its current price, our accounting software would cost the society $1021.20 in 2026.

I’d also like to see more growth in players visiting between regions, particularly from North to South Island and vice versa. I think the conventions of the past making a come back will be a real drawcard for this, as Phoenix returned recently in Christchurch, and Cerberus looks poised to return in Dunedin.

I’ve decided not to run for Committee in the coming year, and would like to put my focus into facilitating games instead. I appreciate the hard work of all those in the committee and outside it who have helped me this year.

IT Officer Report 2025:

There have been some difficulties with the website which have been handled for now. Given the age of the website, it would be useful for a future IT Officer to set about building a new website and archiving the old one.

Additionally, there has been some work to centralising the Committee documents so that there is easier access of information when Committee Members are unavailable. This can be improved upon and is identifying several areas where we could improve on handover instructions.

Thank you for letting me be your IT Officer.
