Apologies, will not be in Hamilton on either date. Happy to send in my votes
I, Chris Kemp accept nomination as Regional Treasurer for nzlarps - Hamilton branch.
I accept the nomination for Regional Marketing Officer.
I’m also happy with 3pm on Sunday the 8th of June.
I did have something to ponder. I understand most positions like this last for a year and then elections are held for the next year. Will these positions run from June 8th this year ( if that is the day voting is held or alternately from the date successful candidates are formally announced) to the same date the following year?
I only bring this up because with the Hamilton LARP convention set to take place in November ( i assume here it will be annually during November henceforth). This would only give those elected into office the space of a few months in which to prepare for it. In the interest of continuity i would propose that giving the committee closer to a year to prepare would be a better option, ie positions run for the calendar year (Jan 1st to Dec 31st). This would also give the committee a month to reflect upon the November Convention and write up a report to help the committee elected the following year.
Thoughts?
They will run until the next regional AGM. There must be an AGM in a calendar year, and for practical reasons it must be held after the end of the NZLARPS financial year on 1 August. For the past few years, this has meant regions and the society holding AGMs in September - October. You could go later, but given the timing of Medusa and the notice period, that’s unlikely to be possible. A better solution would simply be for those members who agree with you to vote accordingly at the AGM.
You can read the NZLARPS constitution here. If you have any questions, I’m happy to help.
It seems that we might need one more of the key roles filled so I would like to apply for the Secretary position rather than a General Officer.
I second Jonathan Trevarthen for the role of Regional secretary nzlarps Hamilton
Nominations so far. I’ll keep this updated. Candidates are ordered by nomination status, then alphabetically.
Regional Director: Jared Hansen (nominated, seconded, accepted)
Secretary: Chris Kemp (nominated, seconded, accepted), Caitlin MacFarlane (nominated, seconded, accepted), Jonathan Trevarthen (nominated, seconded, accepted), Joseph Outram (nominated, accepted)
Treasurer: Chris Kemp (nominated, seconded, accepted), Joseph Outram (nominated, accepted)
Gear Officer: Robert Cowsley (nominated, seconded, accepted), Chris Kemp (nominated, seconded, accepted)
Marketing: Courtney Quinn (nominated, seconded), Jared Hansen (nominated)
General: Lochie Hynd (nominated, seconded, accepted), Joseph Outram (nominated, seconded, accepted), Jessica Phillips (nominated, seconded, accepted), Jonathan Trevarthen (nominated, seconded, accepted), James Winn (nominated)
Candidates who wish to pursue positions should formally accept their nominations. If you do not want a particular position, you can formally decline.
I’ve set up the account for e-voting, and I’ll work with Jared to sort out the ballot. The actual votes will be counted by a returning officer elected at the meeting.
A reminder: people need to formally accept their nominations (self-nomination is treated as acceptance). There are currently no valid nominations for marketing officer, and only one each for secretary and treasurer (and as they’re the same person, the other role will be vacant).
I’m finalising the email ballot, which I’d like to send out tonight or tomorrow. But only those who have been nominated, seconded, and accepted can be on it.
I would like to formally accept my nomination for Secretary.
Ballot will go out around lunchtime.
Corrected: I had missed an acceptance and a seconding earlier in the thread. Corrected email ballots will be resent shortly, once I’ve had someone else go over them to check for any further errors. I apologise for the inconvenience. If you have already voted and this will affect your vote, send a new ballot and your earlier one will be disregarded.
Corrected 2: And now I’ve fixed the day. Argh.
The NZLARPS Hamilton SGM will take place at 15:00 on Sunday June 8 at Robert Cowsley’s place: 39 Kowhai Street, Hamilton, down the long driveway.
