nzLARPS Committee Nominations for 2009-2010

Nominations for nzLARPS committee positions for 2009-2010 are now being taken in this thread.

What are the requirements?
To be on the nzLARPS Auckland committee, you must be a member of nzLARPS, and live in Auckland.

Before you run, please consider the time commitment involved in being on the committee. It is important that you are aware that at the very least, you will be expected to attend a monthly meeting, participate in online discussions, and generally be available to support the society. For the success of the society and larp, the more time and effort you are able to contribute, the better.

How do I nominate someone?
To nominate someone, post below with their name and which position you’re nominating them for. They will need to accept the nomination, and someone needs to second them. You may nominate yourself.

If you are running for a position, you will need to prepare a short speech of at most two minutes length explaining what you intend to do with the role. Voting will happen at the nzLARPS AGM on September 30th.

The Roles

President
The President is responsible for the overall running of the society, and is usually the first point of contact for outsiders wanting to communicate with the community. The President deals with queries from new players, media, photographers, music video producers, anyone who needs to contact the society will usually come to the President first. The President is required to work with all members of the committee as guidance, and to be well versed in understanding the goings on of the activities of the club and the wider larping scene of New Zealand. The President is responsible for aiding project owners and affiliates with advice, particularly relating to their responsibilities to and benefits from the society. The President forges relationships and works to lead the society in such a way that promotes all larp in New Zealand.

Please see below for proposed changes to the role of President, and the introduction of ‘Auckland Director’

Advise on availability of funds for projects and committee initiatives. Distribute budgets to project owners and receive repayments. Pass accounts to society accountant to be registered with the government. Present financial report of current position at committee meetings.

Gear Officer
Responsible for society-owned equipment. Organise for equipment to be stored, cleaned, repaired, and made available for project events. Keep records of where equipment is kept, ensure all borrowed gear is returned. Advise committee and project owners on what equipment is likely to be useful to current and future projects. Facilitate equipment workshops with project owners.

Marketing Officer
Identify online and offline communities. Devise strategies by which to promote larp games and events to these communities, with a view to recruiting new players into larping and potentially into joining nzLARPS. Coordinate marketing campaigns.

General Officers
General Officers take up responsibilities as required by situations. There are two positions available.

Wellington and Proposed Changes
The Wellington regional branch of nzLARPS, if the consitution change is approved by the masses, will be holding their own meeting to select their regional committee. The exact positions available is yet to be decided but will likely involve a regional director, a treasurer, a gear officer and a marketing officer.

Auckland’s committee in turn will then include an Auckland regional director who is in charge of Auckland leadership.

It is proposed that the national President of nzLARPS is a position that is held by any committee member, will be voted on by all members of the society nationally and will be responsible for managing the national operations. It will most likely be held by one of the regional directors.
