NZLARPS Committee meeting 9/12/09

The November minutes are accepted as a true and accurate record unanimously.
Financial Update
Anna deposited ~$670 today. Adam has ~$300 still to deposit. There are still some payments owing from players. Venue booking for SWVH still to go out (~$1000).
After all that we should have ~$3900. This a comfortable place to be.
Anna hates banks. The teller made fun of her because the teller was a moron and didn’t know how to do her job. A new chequebook has been order and is being sent to Adam’s house.
Anna has set up 02 account for Wellington.
Past and Upcoming LARPS
Friday the 13th - Happened and people seemed to have fun. Location was good.
SWVH: A Cardinal Sin - Went well and broke even which was good.
SWVH: Weekend Game. - Went ‘OK’. There was a minotaur, a kraken, nymphs and a satyr. Had 75 people which was a record turnout, including 5 up from Wellington.
Interesting fact - 90% of that game was drawn from character sheets. The kraken was not from anyone’s character sheet. I hope neither were the ‘teabagging jellyfish’. (Clarification. That is Jellyfish who teabag, not the other way around. That’d just be wrong).
Apparently GM’s were expecting players to simply tackle the satyr and take his puzzle piece. Instead they slept with the nymphs, got flowers to give to the satyr in exchange for the puzzle piece. Really?!? Secretary is begining to think rest of the committee is winding her up.
Plus hearts got lost. These appear to be actual hearts, rather than the figurative losing of hearts in a romantic sense. This game is sounding weirder and weirder.
All in all it was “An Epic and Productive Weekend!” Yay!
Ashes on the Wind. - Had a decent turnout for a first game. Feedback from players is very positive and they’re looking forward to furture day games. Game finished earlier than expected due to players being super on to it. Since when are players that organised?

Wellington is running Much Ado About Something.
Not a lot of other LARPS running in December due to a Christmas LARP that everyone in the country seems involved in. Apparently it’s a LARP that has Elves but is ultimately all about the loot.
Budget for Stargate
Discussing the budget, the question that we finish with is “Is the candlestick LARPsafe?” This is obviously a tangent as there is no mention of candlesticks in Stargate budget.
Stargate is estimated to lose money, but lots of the expenses are for gear/props/costuming. Estimate for 6 crew, 14 players. If more end up playing then lose may not be as great.
Anna proposes we accpet the budget and Cameron is to liase with Alista to ensure budget is kept to. Passed unanimously.
Wellington
We bump Jackie up the agenda due to time. We get hold of Jackie via skype and she feels bumped. Everyone Yays.
Wellington is focusingon getting their calendar for next year filled. 8 out of 12 months filled so far. Yay!
Much Ado About Something (Gosh I love that name) is happening. There is lots of interest in Masquerade on Fleet Street and Black Hart of Camelot.
The challenge is getting Wellintonians involved in weekend games. (Killing zombies in the middle ages - what’s not to like?)
They are wanting to pimp games and NZLARPS out to other interested communities. But not wanting to push too hard and antagonise people.
Jackie has a body in her living room. His pants fell down and he was wearing pink underwear. This sounded disturbing till she explained he was a CPR dummy to be turned into William Shakespeare. Okay, sounded more disturbing.
AP - Jackie is to post a draft calendar for Wellington to the committee forum so we can co-ordinate.
We will have a gear rationalisation and see what we can spare for Wellington.
Right now they are pretty happy and don’t need anything more from us.

We ask what Battlecry organisers are doing to promote LARPing at Battlecry. We suggest their internet presence could be improved.

Nexus
New Monthly Mage nWoD game run by Patrick, Peter, Justin, Cameron and Jason. To start Feb/Mar 2010. Will run on a Sat afternoon 12-5pm
They will run introductionary games for new players to develop their characters and learn the system. Participation is these is one of the things players can do to start with more XP.
They are planning on affliliating with NZLARPS. Will consider being a project. NZLARPS is dysentry insurance. Rome does build aqueducts you see. And doesn’t salt the ground. Really.
A brief interlude when Anna screams at a mosquito.
NZLARPS hasn’t had the greatest relationship with WoD games in the past. This is improving and we would like that to continue. (And the times, they are a changing).
The president makes a completely unprovoked* threat of bodily harm upon the person of the secretary, involving secretary being jumped by a large group of players with boffer weapons. The general officer even suggests kidnapping her, tying her up and carrying her off to a St Wolfgang’s game.
*Completely unprovoked, unless you consider the statement “Now you boffer weapon players have learnt to roleplay” to be provocation. In retrospect, not the smartest comment to make in a room full of boffer weapon players.
New Horizons
Will either be an affliate or a project. Website is open and accepting submissions (newhorizons.vampire-legend.com/forum.htm).Sign-up has been excellent so far and game is looking to be uber-awesome.
Tax
We are currently in an uncertain tax status. This needs to be rectified ASAP.
AP - Anna and Rowena to submit charity form.
Gear
Gear Rationalisation to be held 16th+17th January, assuming that date is okay with Hamish.
AP - Anna to follow up with Kara regarding costings for new makeup.
Plywood boxes. Not yet. We will reassess in 6 months and see what options will be best and where we stand financially.
Other Business
Nikki orders muppet to keep playing with her hair. We all laugh.
AP - Muppet, Blair and Rowena to meet next Wed 16th Dec at Rowena’s to look at announcements/newsletter.
Diatribe. Muppet to be head moderator. Blair to be 2nd. Anna to be 3rd. Moderating of diatribe needs to be done. No personal attacks - offenders will be warned and then temporarily banned.
