I want to add in a proposal for use of the NZLARPS gear library at the Sanctuary Larp at Kapcon in January.
What I’d like is:
the big table cloths and banners
the flowers
a couple of nice Larp-safe weapons
In return, we’re happy to put NZLARPS advertising into Kapcon. Paul, the lead organiser also said that Kapcon should be able to work out a discount for NZLARPS members, not for the Larp itself (which is only $5 anyway), but for Kapcon weekend as a whole. Kapcon has six rounds of roleplaying games plus a 60 person theatre-style Larp on the Saturday evening, and there’s talk of running smaller Larps in the regular game slots as well.
I’d like to add a brief discussion of Ryan’s new structure for Grand Battle – ie, the way it effectively turns NZLARPS into a reseller and distributions channel for Paddywack weapons. I worry it might cause us to need GST registration or similar. Not sure why he needs all the purchases to go via NZLARPS instead of direct to him with us getting a commission. It also makes an annoying requirement to check the bank account daily or more frequently and pass on payment details to him. See the Grand Battle forum for more details.
You can also join us on Skype (assuming everything goes according to plan!) - add me (“Exquire” or search for Craig Neilson) and we’ll see how that goes.
I’m not getting any feedback on this on the GB forum, and I won’t be at the meeting, so here’s my reply in short for the committee.
Changing to latex swords makes no difference to GST registration or checking the account, those things would have been required for the DIY kit approach too. So if these things are an issue, they always were and it doesn’t relate to a change to latex weapons.
If the committee decides GB is not doable via NZLARPS after all then I’ll respect that. But I think this is an opportunity for NZLARPS to run something that may, if successful, garner a lot of attention.
