Committee Meeting 11/11/09

Attending: Anna, Gaffy, Cameron, Blair, Muppet, Adam, Rowena, Nikki, Zara

Last months minutes accepted as a true and accurate record unanimously.

Financial Update

Adam and Rowena to be added to the bank account.

Adam can’t multi task. Nikki finds this immensely amusing.

$300 of sword blank for Wellington has been approved.

Muppet’s dad has donated fabric to NZLARPS. NZLARPS shall donate an appropriate ammount of money to him.

Ann will submit financial forecast for SWVH tonight.

Past and Upcoming LARPS.

Past

Knightshade. Made aprox $29 excess

SWVH. Portal game made $95 excess and people had fun.

A paper plane is thrown at Nikki and she gets scared

Star Wars. Had a low turnout due to exams. Had a high crew turnout. Lots of positive feedback, plus first game to make a profit.

Multiverse. Also a small game - 5 players, 5 crew. Again because of exam time.

Weekend games shouldn’t run over exam periods, but run day games instead.

Upcoming

Friday 13th game
SWVH - night game, and weekend game.

SGM

SGM to be pushed back to a later, more suitable time.
We read Ryan’s proposal.
We clarify the difference between “The Vision” and “Division”. All agree that the former is a better thing for the society to have.

AP - Cameron to write out a layman’s version of the 2 options for the Society to discuss online, and then to sort out the proper phrasing.

We discuss gender neutrality and the lack of free penis with membership, and the idea of a dress penis for formal occassions. Idea rejected as impractical and members will just have to cope with the penis, or lack of, that they were born with.


Life membership

Discussion on life membership.

AP - Anna to check rules on life membership.
AP - Rowena to email Derek Tomes on the status of his membership as she is confused.

Star Wars

Star Wars to fill out a project form and to committee to have an online vote.
Discuss “Let’s build a lightsaber” weekend.

Gear Purchases

NZLARPS is not the Rome to LARPing’s Carthage, wishing to salt the earth so nothing will ever LARP there again.

We have a quote from Kara for makeup of $233. It is good quality makeup to minimise allergic reactions.
We defer until Dec meeting to decide how much to spend.

Gear Storage

Nikki is attempting to find flatmates on TradeMe. Otherwise we will need to find a new location for the gear. Gaffy to see if we can lock shed to keep the gear safe if strangers move into the flat.

Marketing

Muppet wants more “Making stuff” days to get people involved. We discuss timing of these.

IT

We need an IT team for our online presence. Muppet is to head it. Anna to advise. Adam wants nothing to do with it.

We need to buy our own webspace. Muppet suggests a place that is US$16 a month.
AP - Others are to investigate cost and options for next meeting.

We want a good online photo gallery.

Other business

Zara and Clare want to run a dinner LARP. A one off meeting of the gods to decide which pantheon will rule. A comical game set 0BC. (Rowena wonders if 0BC is correct or should it be 0AD? Or just year 0?)
They want to rent a hall which will cost $100 for the night, but transport could be more difficult, so maybe hire a minibus. Maybe to run in early March.

Rowena, Nikki, Dave, Taz and Becky are running a new Requiem game to start 2010.

Brawl to run sometime. (Rowena realises she should take better notes as all she wrote was ‘Brawl’. She assumes it related to running one in the future, and not the meeting descending into a brawl.)

Meeting adjourned 9.50pm.

Man, we go off on some strange tangents during these meetings.

Can anyone remember what this was in relation to? Apart from being an awesome classics reference?

Well I didn’t want Adam objecting to the minutes as not being complete again, so I thought I better include it all this time :stuck_out_tongue:

on a side note: I have just received some rather bad news and don’t feel up to doing much tonight. As such I apologize if I am not present but will try and perk up in the few hours before the meeting.

Yes it’s true. First you objected to the minutes, claiming I had missed out all the funny stuff I wrote down, like Nikki and Anna getting startled and screaming. But then I pointed out that mybe I should keep the minutes more serious, and not include the bit where you confessed to being a raging homosexual. And then you changed your vote to accept the minutes as is.

Would you like me to edit the above minutes to include that?

does this mean the wording of the society code thingy is going to be gender nutural or did you not reach a decision?
sorry, the use of the word penis is destracting me from what you’re explaining here.

As anna said we got off on a little bit of a tangent with that topic.

But the serious conculsion was; Yes, A motion will be put to the club in the future to de-gender the constitution.
