nzLARPS AGM 2010 – National Committee Nominations

Nominations for nzLARPS committee positions for 2010-2011 are now being taken in this thread.

What are the requirements?
To be on the nzLARPS National Committee, you must be a member of nzLARPS and have reasonable computer access as most of the national committee’s work is done via Diatribe.

Before you run, please consider the time commitment involved in being on the committee. It is important that you are aware that at the very least, you will be expected to participate in online discussions, and generally be available to support the society. For the success of the society and larp, the more time and effort you are able to contribute, the better.

How do I nominate someone?
To nominate someone, post below with their name and which position you’re nominating them for. They will need to accept the nomination, and someone needs to second them. You may nominate yourself. You all need to be members of nzLARPS.

If you are running for a position, you will need to prepare a short statement roughly between 100 words and 500 words in length, explaining what you intend to do with the role and why you’d be awesome at it. Nominations close Wednesday 13th October at 5pm.

I nominate Michael Andrew for Marketing Officer.

I second the nomination of Ryan Paddy as Information Officer.

I nominate Anna Klein for President.

I second this nomination.

I take it you mean information technology, as we already have the ministry of truth covered by the marketing role.

I accept, on the understanding that national committee business will largely take place online. I don’t have much availability for face-to-face meetings.

Seconded

I second Liz McCombe for treasurer
I second Rowena Knill for National Secretary

I accept the nomination for National Secretary

The cutoff for nominations was going to be Oct 13 - have we extended this to a specific new date? Just interested in how this impacts distance voting.

Was beginning to wonder the same thing myself…

The cutoff was going to be 13th, so we could get the ballots posted out in a timely manner. However by the 13th we did not have seconded nominations and acceptances for a couple of the positions. Given that we must have people elected into the positions, sending out ballots without all the positions didn’t seem worthwhile.

I know that the bureaucracy of the society is not that interesting to some of our members, but it is important that we do have elected officers into all of the positions.

This is the first time that we have had to arrange National elections with members all over the country. The logistics of this is not an easy mattter, especially with the requirement that elections be a secret ballot. If anyone has any bright ideas how to smoothline this process, we are all ears.

No criticism intended, I’m just wondering what the new cutoff for nominations is, and how this affects the other dates.

Are there any vacant positions that still need nominations or seconding?
