NZ Body Art Awards

Evreyone should come to the NZ Body Art Awards this saturday at the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna. Its going to be a blast.

Adam (Our very own Prince Megalindir) is up for one of the awards and has most likely won a prize as they told him that he needs to be there.

He is entered into the Body Painting catagory by painting our very own Juliet and Erin all in white (completely naked :open_mouth: ) and taking photos of them. And yes this is Art .

Check out http://www.bodyartawards.co.nz for more information.

It should be a blast because there are other catagories too like tattoos and monsters featuring WETA workshop.

Tickets cost $25.00 for adults :stuck_out_tongue: and the event starts at 7:30pm.

Come support Adam and his lovely models.

You see, I was going to go, BUT IT CLASHES WITH THE MYSTERY LARP YOU ARE RUNNING, NIKKI!!!

Shameless plug: I also do body art, my gallery is online at exquire.deviantart.com/ (free reg’ req’d to see most works)

I didn’t enter the body art awards because my stuff didn’t fit into their categories!

I’d love to come but can’t - working. :frowning:
Tell Adam to set up a Deviant Art account - http://www.deviantart.com - its a great way to get feedback and showcase his work.
He can also easily set it up to sell prints through it and make a bit of money.

What category has he entered in?

I’m going

And yes, Nikki, people do weird things for Art. :stuck_out_tongue:

I never said I was going to the show, but Adam, Juliet and Erin are my friends and I wanted people to know. Jeez

I have one spare ticket if anyone wants to go and has $25.00, nothing like the last minute.

Not any more there’s not - it’s mine!

So how was it?
Did you win anything Adam?

It was flipping awesome!!

Adam’s photo won 1st prize.

The painting was so intense, so much detail and originality. Plenty of inspiration for LARPing. And the prosthetics! Jeepers those were good. A feline face that totally blended into the skin was a major highlight… An ‘evil pixie’ won the airbrushed section, she could have been a Mordavian Unseelie fae…

And, and- oh wait I should let Erin say it, she was bouncing so much.

It was a pretty awful stage show and an awesome gallery/meet-people later. The costumes and make up were a hundred times cooler close up. I made lots of contacts with the kind of people I want to hang out with. I’m putting a few of them on the nzLARPS mailing list. One guy was painted/prosthetic’d as a mind-numbingly cool alien and he’s totally in for coming.

I hung out with Richard Taylor for a while and talked about the amateur/pro choice. And I picked up a new model for me to play with too. I can’t believe I didn’t enter some photos!

Any chance of seeing some pictures of what you’re talking about?
Any galleries around?

Here is the photo that won.

Thats really cool. I love Juliet’s expression.
What did you win?
Is there anywhere we can see some of the other entries/winners? They sound really awesome.
And Adam, you really should get a Deviant Art account. It’d be awesome to see some more of your work.

Photos I took on the night.

Yeah that’s right you wish you were there now???

Two of these folk (the munted Scotsman and the pregnant alien) are keen to come and play with us - I’ve got their email addresses and I’m waiting to fix the Diatribe bandwidth problem before I put 'em on the mailing list.

Another one is keen to model for me and my stuff, and she’ll probably flip when I tell her about larping as well. She’s from the Cut Above Academy special effects course - a place we need nzLARPS flyers bad.

These are the kind of events we need to be at to get more nzLARPers. Keep your eyes out.

That’s very cool, especially the face.

One thing I feel that Mordavia has been really missing is decent makeup.

Er, yes, I got to talk to Richard Taylor and Geno Acevedo.

  :open_mouth:

boingboing

WOW, those look so cool.
I always wish we had enough time (read: more crew) to do better makeup at Mordavia.
