“I like your helmet”
“Nice hair my lord”
“You have a very attractive retainer”
“I heard gossip about the size of whats under your cod peice and I’m very impressed”

Equal with the “Von Braun, Von Braun” potion (the peseants had a field day with that one)

ah but heres one we really wanted.
“my lord what a remarkably large ***** you have.”
“thank you…, i stole it …from …a dead …man…” (with a look that could slay hundreds)
I was thinking even MORE impoverished than that - especially since I’m coming from a hot country. And believe me: the Holy Land in summer - you’d be quite happy wandering around in your underwear.
Still - maybe someone nice gave me warm clothes so I wouldn’t die wherever in the world the game is meant to take place.
Good tip about the shoes - that might just work, thanks!
But on the same note, from what I hear if you’re in the Holy Land at night, you’re going to want to need something warm. And remember the game isn’t set in the Holy Land.

That being said, for a peasent it should be something along the lines of a simple, light wool gown and perhaps a hood. Then age it brutally. Rub mud stains into it, wear it a lot then just throw it somewhere on the floor when not in use, don’t wash or iron it, tear and fray it along the hems, et cetera. Pretty much anything along those lines will do to make it into a good, old, stolen rag and wouldn’t be too revealing.

OBviously you have never worn a full thickness gambeson, it is like wearing three wet suits in a spa pool.

I have, but I’ve never really felt the heat and sweat the way other people claim to. Wearing my gambeson and maille I tired more quickly but I’ve never found myself thinking about the heat even when others were beginning to complain. I guess I just sweat less than other people, possibly because I don’t drink as much water. Anyway, I was talking about needing something warm there, so yes a gambeson would be quite good to have in that situation.

Also don’t forget the real world time for the game will be winter, so it makes sense to use the real warm clothes.

I’m already thinking of what I could wear under my linen robe to make me warm. Or maybe I could make a warm cape, that’s an option (or just wear one of those I already have, there is always a moment when you should stop making capes…)

For a 13th century cloak you can use a square blanket with a broach. They actually work better for warmth than the half round cloaks because all the wool i s up high around your shoulders, not hanging in the wet around your ankles.

Where can you get a cheap blanket? I think someone was telling me something about that, but I so terribly forgot

Kiwi Disposals on K Rd has very heavy duty cloaks ex-army blankets

If you’re going to wear a dress or robe, remember to wear stockings or leggings underneath. They don’t need to be very thick but you need something to trap warm air against the skin of your legs or you’ll notice the cold quite a lot. If your dress has got layers, or is very thick fabric, it will do the rest of the job of keeping you warm, but the leggings are important.

Thank you, I’ll check Kroad, and will find something to wear on legs. I was thinking of wearing a wool robe under the black one, but with this wool one I’ll still have to make it, as I got wool for it long ago but didn’t come to actual making yet. In this case there will be something to go under it as well, like linen, so three layers should be ok. Plus have no idea how hot/cold the weekend will be.
Ah, and running around too. I made cape for Mordavia but didn’t wear it - too hot to run around from zombies or after the Prince…
