Heya. A lot of larpers come from a tabletop background, it’s pretty straightforward.
What sort of larps do you think you’d be interested in - what genres, adventure or intrigue, physical (foam weapon) or abstract combat, etc?
There’s a larp convention in Auckland in a couple of weeks that will give you a taste of lots of different styles, see chimera.nzlarps.org
And one of those LARPs at Chimera will be Knightshade, a fantasy larp. This game is to be based out of Hamilton, which although not close to Taranaki is certainly closer than some.
