Nominations for the 2008 committee

Nominate people for the nzLARPS committee 2007-2008 here!

Here is the list of positions and the people that currently fill them.
To nominate someone, simply say who you nominate and for what position. Also you can nominate yourself, so don’t hold back.
Nominees must also accept their nomination.
All nominations will be confirmed on the night.

If you are running for a position you will need to prepare a short 1 – 2 minutes speech just stating who you are and what your plans are for the role etc.

Voting will be held at the AGM on the night. (11 Sep currently)

The society will need a new president as I am leaving for the UK in the next few months and the constitution states a person can only be the president for a maximum of two years anyway.
So if you think you have what it takes to run the society……

I think I’d like to run for community officer, how do I go about this?

Though I think someone also needs to second the nomination, or at least they did last year.

This thread is more for showing who is running so everyone knows. This makes things easier for members and limits confusion and surprises at the AGM.

If you can get a second on the forum great, (which is what we did do last year) but of more importance is a second at the AGM where it will be formally recorded. A forum second should be the same person who seconds on the night.
If your first or second can not make the AGM a post in the thread will be also enough as long it is noted.

I’d be happy to be on the committee again, no preference about position.

I’m still up for the project role, if you’ll have me.

Can we please have a separate (temporary) forum for nominations and secondings and election-related posts? It will make it clearer who has been nominated and for which position, especially if the subject line is something like 'Nominate Steve Shipway for Treasurer"

Oh, and I’ll nominate myself for re-election I suppose…

I nominate Brian Watson for General Officer.

I nominate AJ Kerslake for Projects Officer.

I nominate Anna for president. This year she has more than proven herself to be one of the greatest assets to the NZLarps society, there have been several larps that have been carried on her back. She will also make a fantastic representative of Nz Larps that will ensure a good reaction anywhere she represents our society.

I will second Anna K for Pres

Thanks guys  I accept my nomination.

Cheers Anna, I accept the nomination.

I second Brians nomination for Community Officer.

Just as an FYI Im not running for any committee positions this time.

I nominate Stephanie Pegg for general officer. We should have more influence from outside Auckland, and Steph is a great communicator with larp-running experience and a presence in the lively Wellington roleplaying scene.

I second Stephanine Pegg as a general officer.

Also, I agree that Anna would be an excellent president.

So long as adding to her already considerable workload doesn’t break her.

I nominate Craig for General Officer.

And Mike for Equipment Officer, if he hasn’t been already.

I guess I accept. Turning up to meetings would be something of an issue, though…

Not as a big a challange as a few years ago. A lot of stuff happens online, including voting.

Maybe one of our technical wizards can create some interent speaker phone or web camera connection during the meetings themselves.

Having a committee presence out of Auckland is an excellent idea.

Cool, Steph. Even if you don’t get into the committee (places last year were hard to come by), I think it’d be good for the society to have some sort of representative in each city that can talk to locals about it in person and seek out opportunities to help grow local larp.

If there’s anyone in cities like Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch or Dunedin who wants to help the society by being on the committee or being a local representative for their region then please do speak up.

What’s the story with the AGM and interested parties not being present? Those who want to run for positions but can’t be at the AGM, and members who want to vote but can’t be there?
